The adventure started early... my truck threw a rear drive unit code

Was supposed to take delivery of my R1T today, got a text from the service center that my truck threw a rear drive unit code so they won't be delivering today. On one hand I'm grateful they caught it before delivering it and the other I'm disappointed obviously. Hopefully it's something simple and they can fix it quick, they said they anticipate no more than a week.

I still am more grateful than disappointed simply because it would be a much bigger letdown if they delivered the truck and I got these codes tomorrow. It would take longer to get it sent back and the repair done than if it never left.

Much better for them to catch it vs. you being out in the backcountry or on a road trip! Hopefully that was the only issue you ever have with it??

The service department got back to me this afternoon and let me know it was an issue with a software module for the rear drive unit. They will have the part on Tuesday and will have it ready for me for next Friday. Quick diagnostics and seems like it will be a quick turnaround. They were really polite and apologetic about the whole thing as well as appreciative of my patience.

In short their customer service is on the upper end for sure. Every person from Rivian I've personally dealt with has been really positive and upbeat and a good fit for a customer facing position. So while the outcome isn't ideal, a perfect truck right away would be the ideal, it's certainly not the end of the world and the customer service people are making the experience as painless as possible.

Without a doubt disappointing, but much better for them to catch it than to have them deliver it and you get it a few hours/days later.
