. Notwithstanding the fact that it will charge at half the speed and will no longer support bidirectional charging once they switch to NACS in 2025
.My opinion (and not because I own an R1T).....I don't like the looks. It looks like the Honda pickup....small and funny looking. The press review embargo on the 2024 Silverado EV has just lifted and the first reviews are in. Verdict? Check out the list at affiliate site SilveradoEVolution.com

At 200kW, it would take almost 24 hours to charge at home on a 40A circuit, sheeshSo towing become more palatable with 450 mil range but with near 9K weight and 200kW batteries.

No not really... Ford and Dodge has had very little (if any) experience with an all electric EV, or even a PHEV, having only dabbled in Hybrid in recent years, hence the growing pains they are having with the Lightning, and the other EV's they have. You're assuming that your local dealer will be able to service it. That's not a safe assumption as your local dealer probably isn't going to have an EV mechanic to work on it. Go to the Lightning forum and see all the service horror stories posted there, it looks remarkably similar to here with people complaining about their service with the difference being Ford or GM aren't sending mechanics to your house and personally Rivian has done it twice for me now.
Agree. The only "competing" EV that would even slightly pique my interest at this point is the Hummer, but they've still got to get production numbers up (and pricing down) on that before it's really an R1T competitor. My R1T keeps looking better and better when I look at the gawdawful alternatives.
All RJ needs to do if figure out how to make a profit and Rivian will be set up for success.Agree. Along those same lines, there's absolutely nothing even remotely close to the R1S on the market currently in my opinion.
Taken together, I think Rivian has set itself up in a really nice place to succeed for both the near term and the long term (though I'm obviously biased like all of us on a Rivian forum are).
But some how they don't mind paying hundreds of dollars per month in fuel not to mention maintenance costs. This is an even greater factor in Canada where fuel is nearly 2x cost & climbing.Any real trade worker will not pay $78k for a work truck. An HD 2500, double cab, long bed with some options is $51,000 MSRP. Large companies with public sustainable goals will buy a few. And I forgot, of course the local governments will pony up the money.
