That's like saying your swearing off pussy because you have to buy dinner and drinks. Crazy.
You sound like a real charmer.

Poor execution for a "work truck". So, any time you have to charge while towing you will have to disconnect your trailer to back in :giggle:. Notwithstanding the fact that it will charge at half the speed and will no longer support bidirectional charging once they switch to NACS in 2025 .

Great ideal poor execution as usual.

You're assuming that your local dealer will be able to service it. That's not a safe assumption as your local dealer probably isn't going to have an EV mechanic to work on it. Go to the Lightning forum and see all the service horror stories posted there, it looks remarkably similar to here with people complaining about their service with the difference being Ford or GM aren't sending mechanics to your house and personally Rivian has done it twice for me now.
No not really... Ford and Dodge has had very little (if any) experience with an all electric EV, or even a PHEV, having only dabbled in Hybrid in recent years, hence the growing pains they are having with the Lightning, and the other EV's they have.

GM has been dabbling with PHEV, or all EV since the 90's (Oldsmobile EV1). I will grant you it doesnt mean that my specific local dealer will have the specific knowledge for a Silverado EV, but the growing pain --should-- be significantly less than the other ICE manufactures. GM had been sharing the hybrid technology since the early 2000's, with their now dead partnership with Toyota/Honda, and by way of reach around with Dodge/Chrysler. Remember the Dodge Durango/Chrysler Aspen Hybrid? (Neither do I, but they did exist). They shared the underpinnings with the Chevy Tahoe/GMC Yukon/Cadillac Escalade Hybrid. But in typical GM fashion, when they finally perfected what it was in 2013, they decided to drop it.

I will also grant you the Hummer EV has not gone off well for GM, but it has created a tech platform for GM to build from, as well as their PHEV/EV cars that have been being built since 2011 (PHEV 2011 Chevy Volt, EV 2017 Chevy Bolt, plus all their Hybrid models going back to 2006).

There are only 2 other auto makers that have been as successful as GM. Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura, and more recently, Tesla. But that focus of success has been different for them as an all EV company.

My R1T keeps looking better and better when I look at the gawdawful alternatives.
Agree. The only "competing" EV that would even slightly pique my interest at this point is the Hummer, but they've still got to get production numbers up (and pricing down) on that before it's really an R1T competitor.

Along those same lines, there's absolutely nothing even remotely close to the R1S on the market currently in my opinion.

Taken together, I think Rivian has set itself up in a really nice place to succeed for both the near term and the long term (though I'm obviously biased like all of us on a Rivian forum are).

All RJ needs to do if figure out how to make a profit and Rivian will be set up for success.

Any real trade worker will not pay $78k for a work truck. An HD 2500, double cab, long bed with some options is $51,000 MSRP. Large companies with public sustainable goals will buy a few. And I forgot, of course the local governments will pony up the money.
But some how they don't mind paying hundreds of dollars per month in fuel not to mention maintenance costs. This is an even greater factor in Canada where fuel is nearly 2x cost & climbing.
