Very misleading but definitely room for improvement. You could be sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for 30+ minutes and your efficiency would be through the roof.

Need options for varying time frames. Or put it somewhere in main screen as a sub menu with more details.

On the side screen, it is taking up valuable real estate and doesn't really offer much.

We'll get it replaced in a later update with a tree that adds leaves and drops leaves based on how efficient the vehicle is driving, but not provide any quantitative data on the efficiency numbers.

- Replaced efficiency meter with Neon Woke Tree

We'll get it replaced in a later update with a tree that adds leaves and drops leaves based on how efficient the vehicle is driving, but not provide any quantitative data on the efficiency numbers.

I had a Ford which did this. I could never figure out why someone would use it rather than one of the more useful alternates available.

Pretty sure this new iteration is for those who suffer from presbyopia ?

Yea but the traffic congestion lines on the nav are so impossibly small I can't tell what color they are.

Ya, just scrap the tile and replace with a proper efficiency screen/tab. Just copy what Tesla did even 10 years ago and we'll be good.

I have long opined that it should be over distance, not time. Would love to hear an explanation from them.

It seems to be somewhat let dampened, which I like.
Agreed. I really don't understand why someone would want to see it over time. Maybe it's not so terrible to be over time, but the average over the last 15 minutes is the really silly part. And if you're going to fix the average, you should fix it to be over distance for both numbers to make sense.

I actually found what Tesla did in their trips panel to be the most useful, though even they got rid of it in the refreshed cars. Being able to see consumption during the current drive (however long it is) and consumption since the last charge is nice. It was great for seeing how things like temperature affects a commute. The graph looks fancy but is less useful.

You can get trip metrics from ElectraFi, but it's better having them live in the vehicle.

The graphics are subjectively worse

The far right bar/dot are objectively worse and now misleading (previously the only source of useful data to reference against rated range)

The graph remains objectively misleading and not very useful thanks to the 2mi/kwh mark being used for all models and the x-axis remaining in minutes instead of distance.

So many companies have done EV efficiency data better on the instrument cluster and the main screen. Just copy 10% of what each of them are doing and you would have a massive improvement over what is available now. The trip meter being buried in the vehicle dynamics and settings screen remains goofy as well.

Rivian, please keep the updates and improvements coming, but this efficiency pane “upgrade” is not one of them. This is a strikeout and a missed opportunity. Please don’t advertise it as an improvement in the release notes; it makes you look lost as to what the customer wants/needs. Now we will probably have to wait many more update cycles as Rivian shifts their attention elsewhere for a while, all the while thinking the efficiency graph just got a nice shiny update/improvement.

I’m out.

After two years of watching the efficiency graph, I can’t stand neon bars screaming at me so I’ve switched to Map view until the dust settles.

OCD triggered. LOL

Agreed. Map view is kind of pointless too. Efficiency was the only useful information being displayed on the entire left 2/3 of the screen.

Just shows that the screens are unnecessarily large on these vehicles and we would be just fine with smaller ones that were focused on displaying the important info.

Reading this thread has made me think how much I would like it if a few things got tweaked here:

  • The baseline should be the calculated baseline which is used by the vehicle to determine range. Not the EPA estimated range, but the range actually displayed by the vehicle after learning your driving data. This would mean that anything above the baseline would mean that you were actively doing better than the vehicle thinks and you should arrive at your destination with more range than predicted.
  • The time increment displayed should be adjustable as the one person made a mock of (Since start, 15 mins, 30 mins, etc.)
  • The bar on the right should display the average (per selected time increment) as it compares to the baseline. I.e. if it's green it should be telling you "in the last X amount of time you have done better than the estimator thinks).

lol I feel the same. The neon thick ass line and the GIANT efficiency number is killing me. I’ve been on the fence with why’s screen to use. Wish the maps had street names still.
