2023 R1S Quad
First Rivian, first service visit today. Got this pretty girl. 2023 Quad R1S in for service. 2022 Quad 2022 R1T loaner. Never driven an R1T.

  • Meridian - slightly better than my Rivian audio, but not life changing
  • 20" wheels with pirelli ATs at wear bars vs my 21" with brand new Defenders....HOLY SHIT were these loud. I wonder if this (38K miles) had a front wheel bearing going too, or four of them....cuz damn were these tires noisy
  • Handling - many reviews stated the R1S was a bit less composed than the R1T in spite of the same suspension set up. I agree. R1T definitely felt more planted and less wiggly.
  • Tonneau cover - was a gen 1. Made a "clunk" sound when I hit the button. Didn't move. Performing expected then, I guess.
  • (Vin 13xxx)
  • I was surprised with this being a >10K vin how uneven the panel gaps were..the hood sunk in deep on the driver side near the front, with about a 1/2" ledge between teh hood and teh quarterpanel once shut. The Charge door had a huge chunk of paint missing from grinding due to misalignment upon open/close. My 5xxx VIN R1S has no build/alignment issues, (to me, I got it 2 months ago, it's a 2023 1 previous owner).
  • Pedal mapping seemed different too. Much more agression in the R1T, much less damping of sudden inputs. Felt more racecar and less SUV than the R1S. Compared both in all purpose, medium regen, medium comfort.
  • Love the Compass yellow. Love the wheels. Wondered if I'd ever use the gear tunnel after exploring it.
Overall still the best loaner I've ever gotten from a dealer.

I received a Maserati as a loaner from Rivian Service Center in Houston. It was nothing special and was glad to give it back lol.

I just returned a Chevy Silverado EV when I picked up my R1S from South SF Service Center and I could NOT WAIT to get out of it. Absolutely awful driving experience that made me so glad to have a Rivian. Ugly, heavy, lumbering oaf of a vehicle. The Bluetooth had to be set up each time I got in. The regen doesn't work in reverse, almost got in more than one accident trying to OPD while reversing in parking lots. Cavernous interior with uncomfortable seats and a terribly unintuitive UI in the screens. Finicky charger and inaccurate range estimates. The list goes on.

All this to say: I love my R1S even more and now I'm worried nothing will ever compare.

I just returned a Porsche Cayenne and was glad to return it. I love Porsches but did not like the Cayenne. They also had a Maserati as well. Enterprise insisted I take one or the other because I was driving a Rivian. Not sure what that means. I was happy to drive anything simple as it was going to sit at home mostly.

I have gotten 3 different R1T’s loaners from the Franklin TN service center
Red canyon with forest edge - no issues
Rivian blue with black mountain - flat tire at 4 am in the rain -the slime worked well
Glacier white with black mountain - no wiper fluid and a tailgate sensor that goes off every bump

Oh lord, I had not seen this thread..
Last month, I needed a few things fixed on my new R1S. The Denver SC needed to keep if for a while and I ended up with a Jeep Wrangler hybrid in the Sahara trim..

What a piece of garbage. That comes from me being the owner of 3 previous Wranglers. On the positive side, it the hybrid Wrangler has very good acceleration. I believe Jeep says you should get 25miles of range in pure EV mode and that does appear to be correct. At city speeds (under 55mph) I was able to coax just over 30miles of range before the engine kicked in. Also, with such a small battery, it charges up really fast with my level 2 charger. Oh, one more thing. IT HAS CARPLAY!!

That's where it ends.. what sucks...
I've been spoiled by Rivian. I used to be OK with the ride of a Wrangler, but now it's just garbage to me. Also, the regen braking system is terrible. You only get any regen when you're on the brake pedal. I didn't see any option to have one pedal driving in even the pure EV mode. You can't coast to get some power back to the battery. The steering sucks, it's too noisy, even in EV mode. It's just not a pleasant driving experience.. Maybe I would have been more forgiving of it if I were handed a Rubicon but at this point, I would never consider one of Jeeps EV systems..

I have a 2025 VW Atlas from Enterprise.
Bit of a step down from my tri.
Do not like the way it drives, at all. My wife hates it, and she actually still drives a 2015 Passat.
Had it for a week and they have yet to start diagnostics on my vehicle.

How? Enterprise wanted to charge me the "exotic" upgrade for my loaner if I wanted to get the Macan. Otherwise I ended up with an VW Atlas

I suppose it could have been that I didn't want one. An accident related rental goes from the rental place to my house and back so, I don't care what it is. They had some Mitsubishi sedans that I was absolutely fine with but they didn't have SUVs. The "exotics" are mostly base -level cars so you're not missing much. I have rented some nice cars in Europe through Sixt. Cheers.

The only rental we've had other than what's listed above is a Hyundai Palisade. We liked the driver assist being available pretty much anywhere (Coma for xmas?). And we really liked the massaging front seats.

We had a the Silverado EV for a day recently. It was a base model, didn't even have power seats. Really disappointed based on the reviews on the interwebs.
