The whole display restarted while I was driving

While I was driving, both screens restarted with the Rivian logo, just like during a soft restart. Has anyone else experienced this issue, or should I talk to the service center (SC

I've not had this happen, but yes we've had other reports of this. Doesn't seem to be a widespread issue. I would try a hard reset and if it does it again then call service. Can't hurt to call them first though - it would be disconcerting to me as well...

Only had it happen once in our R1S. Something froze up and the software watchdog rebooted the infotainment.

Used to happen somewhat regularly in my Bolt due to the backup camera interrupting the boot process at an inopportune time.

This happened to me on the three hour drive home from picking my truck up on my 2023 dual motor max, and then happened repeatedly until i brought it in for service. They said they had to replace a 'module'. Not sure if that was just replacing the whole computer, but basically the truck seemed to have had a total factory reset after i got it back as none of the presets or garage opener etc were there anymore. Havent had the issue since. I would definitely get it in for service.

Mine did this, and its been acting really wonky since the last update. Maps are no bueno, its rebooted twice while driving, and my motion detection videos aren't showing up. I filed a ticket. I have soft and hard reset, but its pretty clear there is some sort of software bug. I am guessing it will be fixed soon (based on my experience with similar issues with Tesla in the past).

I have had the center screen reboot while driving a couple of times, but not recently.

I think some people have reported unplugging their drive cam drive has fixed this issue.

Can confirm have seen this issue as well since the last update (2x). Never before that. Service appointment for next week hopefully to sort it out, or confirm if its a SW bug.

Yeah I tried that too, since I thought maybe it was loose. It didn't help. The truck actually seems to be working okay as of my last drive, but its been happening on and off so I suspect it will come back. I did determine the video issue coincides with the Map problem, which is why I suspect some software bug.

What about entirely disabling gear guard?

What about entirely disabling gear guard?
I have toggled it on and off, if thats what you mean. The system has been rock solid up until the latest update, which is also why I suspect it.

Mine has done this twice since the update. The first time, it cycled between the Rivian logo and a black main screen for 15 minutes, before it recovered.
