@Donald Stanfield I'm planning on doing the Michelin Defenders in a 275/50/21 on the stock 21" wheels. It's a slightly smaller tire than OEM (.5" less sidewall) but the load ratings are still high enough that there shouldn't be any issues.
I see the load rating for most of the 275/50/21 is at 113, where the 275/55/21 is at 116. I don't know much about load rating , but been reading on the forum said we need at least 115 load rating to be safe?

If you're maxing out your payload, 115 gives you a good buffer. Technically 113 is just over the rear GAWR load, but you're pushing your luck.

Yes, when I calculated the rear axle GAWR it was close to the max load for the MIchelin Defenders, but not over. If you're doing a lot of heavy towing and/or maxing out your payload it's probably not a good tire, but if that's the case you should probably be running 20s anyways instead of the 21s 🤷‍♂️

dont forget..bumpy ride...
I have 22s and don't know of this "bumpy ride". Yes on lowest however this is the case for all wheel options unless on smooth roads. I had a loaner T on 20s and IMO there really wasn't that much ride difference for normal urban driving.

I got my R1S with 22 Dark wheels and they rode great, ... and I got a set of 20s off ebay and put KO3s on them. Ride is slightly softer, a little noisier, and probably a litte less efficient!

it’s time for my 21” Pirellis to be replaced. Any luck with the Defenders?

I haven't had to do it yet, so go ahead and do it and let me know how it goes 😉

I'm getting the defenders, the new ones on the 22" rims put on my truck this coming Friday. I can report back on it.

Did you have a tire shop picked out? Discount Tire won’t mount the Michelins.
Did they say why? The DT I talked to said they would even though they don't carry the tire. I was going to buy them through Costco and mount them at DT.

The weight rating…must meet rivian spec
Surprising, but the thing is the 113 load ratings still meets spec for gross weight (both total and by axle) if you don't have the underbody armor. It's close but still over.
