Thank you for the feedback. Any idea why Rivian does not offer the 20” option all weather for the R1S Dual - Max battery? I’m looking at building on the Rivian site, I only have the 22” sport and 20” inch all terrain which is an extra $3700. No option to select the 20” all weather on the R1S Dual Max.First of all, welcome aboard! Great decision to switch over to the good side!
We don't call them "long range" 'round these parts. There are different battery sizes and different motor configurations. Sounds like you're looking at a dual motor, with a max pack.
I don't know why certain wheel options aren't available with certain configs, but the 22" tire is considered more of a street performance tire while the 20" is an A/T tire. The Pirelli Scorpions aren't the favorite of many people, and lots of folks swap them out for better A/T options after a dozen or two thousand miles.
If you do any amount of winter weather driving, you'll almost certainly want the beefier tire. Having a 20" wheel is great because it opens up tons of tire options for you down the road, whereas the vast majority of 22" options will be all season or summer tire compounds.
