Just a follow up. I took it to the shop to get patched. They said they couldn't find the leak because there was no air coming out of the tire when they put soapy water on it. Fortunately, I remembered where the hole was and showed them. They were able to clean up the Tireject and repair the tire without issue. No mention of any foam insert.
I probably could have just left the tireject and been fine, but better peace of mind for only $30-40.
