Where are you all placing your toll transponders or RFID tags? I have both a transponder box and a sticker version, both of which do not work in the Rivian. I have tried several positions around the windshield, making sure to get as close to the black border (the frits) as possible. I have also tried sticking them to the glass roof and the drivers side window next to the side mirror. No luck. My next move might be to try a location outside the cabin like in the bumper, behind the front license plate mount, inside the charge port door, or inside the frunk somewhere.
These both work fine in my other vehicle, so it's something with the Rivian.
Any tips on this would be appreciated!

Huh. I leave my FasTrak in an antistatic bag and take it out whenever I pass a toll booth. I just sit it on the dash momentarily and it's worked every time.

That said, I've heard some cars have a gap in whatever coating blocks the signal, very close to the rearview mirror/front camera. Maybe try that location?

We have a Washington State "Good to Go FlexPass" transponder mounted horizontally to the driver's side of the camera housing, with the top margin 1-2 cm below the inside top of the windshield and the right margin about 1.5 cm from the camera housing. This seems to work flawlessly, registering at all Good to Go camera stations.

When driving our R1T home from Gaithersburg MD Service Center in 2024, we mounted a removable Pennsylvania Turnpike EZ-Pass (the one with suction cups) in the corresponding passenger-side position, until we got out of the EZ-Pass area (from east coast to Minnesota). This also seemed to register at all EZ-Pass camera stations in all states.

You seem to have been valiant about varying the transponders' location, @lmerani. I doubt that's the problem.

My hypotheses are: (1) Illinois and EZ-Pass may not have your transponders registered to your vehicle, resulting in computer error when transponder and license plates don't match. (2) Your small transponders may not have as powerful a signal as our large transponders. (3) Something else may be causing the problem.

Consider calling your I-Pass/EZ-Pass technical support office and see what they advise. Please let us know what they tell you, and how their advice turns out.

Best wishes!

I use Good to go flex pass, to the right of the mirror at the top. Never had any issues. I don't think the windshield has metal heating elements, like some cars do.

Are you sure it's the car and not the pass?

Weird. I haven't had a problem with a sticker-tag here in Colorado mounted on the bottom-left of the windshield.

My Utah Express Pass lives directly below the rearview mirror and has worked flawlessly for me. It also has a handy sliding tab to easily deactivate it when I've got passengers riding with me.

I use the old-school Florida E pass with the suction cups. I removed the suction cups and it fits nicely between the crack of the dash and the windshield.

I have my EZPass for New York State just to the right of the rear view mirror mounting on the windshield. Works fine.

I'll snap a picture next time I'm in the truck.

Mine is high on the right side of the rear view mirror, using a suction cupped holder. It worked 75% of the time. Doesn't really matter though since 99% of the ones I pass through read the license plate as well so if it doesn't hit the transponder it gets the rear plate.

That looks like the same type of tag as an EZ-Pass.

I put mine up by the rear view mirror, directly below the black cutout for the sensors using generic dual lock tape strips from Amazon.

My truck has been to every state east of the Mississippi and I haven't had any issues with that mounting point.

In MN, you can apply for a $250 credit (for use in MN only) on a new Ez pass and they give you 3m Velcro tabs...you can also get as many Velcro tabs as you want so you can move the transponder to any vehicle you have. This spot has never had an issue for me as far as I know.

I just installed a Massachusetts sticker yesterday. I put it to the right of the mirror vertically just next to the dots on the windshield. The goal was for it not to be visible from the driver’s seat. I will report back on how well it registers tolls.

I think wiper parking area of windshield has some heating elements. Not sure if it's related.

Edit: I misread your comment.
