The entire idea of charging phones there is insane, and their implementation was ridiculously stupid. What someone needs to make is a removal kit that lets you use the space, and an adapter from the existing cable to a 60w USB-C out. I just spent a while looking at modifying the OpenSourceEV charger to make it just open space.

For gen2 you can’t remove it. It acts as the NFC reader and will stop updates without it.

I will stress this, our TopoCharge line works beautifully and way better than the oem charger.

Oh and one last thing. We refunded the difference back to anyone who has ordered in the last few weeks to match the new price.

In that case we have one. Unless you want a full storage.
I see the charger with a slightly increased pocket, but my point would be to use the entire space, remove the chargers, and add high power USB output.

I might be taking “step down” too literally, but it implies a voltage reduction in technical terms. I’m looking to charge high power devices, so 12v/3a or step up to 20v. I didn’t see a full power spec on your site, sorry if I missed it.

In this case, yes, step down applies. What matters is wattage at the various voltages. The step down will supply 12, 9 and 5 volts via the usb port. Since it’s a PD 3.0 capable port it will only supply at most the input voltage. The step down charger will offer a max of 65 watts across the 2 ports. Typically that means 27 watts (9v/3 amps) per port after losses.

Unfortunately while I like the design and fit, on some trips we will want 65+45w. I don't think even the 12v/3a for 36w would work. We have a 140/30/30 in the 12v outlet but it can get loose due to the position of that socket, so I'm looking at options. I'll probably end up building something.

Sojhinn Any plans to offer a small bulk discount for us poor pre-2023 Rivian folks on the Battery post re-locators?

$58 + shipping for two is kind of intense for a few pieces of (well-milled) metal. I could buy another 1.5 batteries for that amount :CWL:

I'll talk to David about it. No promises. Strangely those pieces were not cheap....

Go to a CNC shop and price out quantity production for anything, you'll find out why immediately.

Thank you. Yeah, I kind of assumed production costs for them were probably inflated given the small CNC run. Keep in mind you're likely going to get a burst of orders though as soon as the 2022-2023 start failing exponentially.

Honestly, at the eye-watering price of $750 for a service center to do the replacement... I'd bet scaling up would be more profit for you, and a few less $ for owners. A *lot* of people feel confident DIY swapping a battery.
