Took a day long trip today and every time I stopped to charge, as my charge approached my charging target, it would get to about 8 minutes left and raise the target by a couple minutes. This would happen over and over so my 15 minute charge was turned into a 45 minute charge.
The first time, it was a good thing because I was down to about 25 miles when I got to the next charger. The other two times I was paying closer attention and just stopped the charge when it was about 70 miles more than I needed to get to the next charger.
This was really annoying, particularly when it got above 80% and charging slowed way down. Am I doing something wrong? I’m using the default Google Maps trip planner.

I haven't used the trip planner in the truck, but charge rates always go down as the SoC increases. This is especially true above 80% which you observed. It seems like the trip planner isn't smart enough to know what the truck's charging curve is to give you a more accurate prediction.

Try using abetterrouteplanner.com to plan your trips. I find it's better about predicting how long you'll need to charge.

I don’t know for sure but it is colder now and maybe the algorithm takes into account lower driving efficiency and slower charging?

I get the same thing on occasion. It will say charge to 64% for example, and it will charge to 64%, but then the target is moved to 73%. So it’s not clear if 64% is enough to continue the journey or do I need to keep waiting for the next target.

I’ve seen the same thing in the vehicle where it was ever increasing. I eventually just stopped the charge or I’d still be there.

Something goes wrong with the calculation.

I usually go by what it's saying my miles remaining will be at my destination and go with what I know will be comfortable for me. For example, it may say 60 miles at destination however, this time of the year, I may pad that knowing that my destination is going to be up a mountain pass, it's cold outside, and I may not be able to charge immediately when I'm at my destination.

Once you hit 80% SoC, the truck will slow down to about 50 kWh speed so on a road trip, it becomes a question of....do I need that extra time charging or not?

I'd do what another poster suggested. While charging, navigate to your final (or next) destination and then leave when you're comfortable with the arrival percentage at that next stop. I'd certainly avoid charging up to (and never past) 80% on a road trip. You'll end up wasting more time than if you just headed to the next stop (unless you simply can't make that next stop without charging to, or beyond 80%).

I've had this happen to me on a couple of occasions recently. Neither were in cold weather and both were at RAN chargers. I forget the exact numbers, but it was something like, route planner says to charge to 76% when I arrived and as I was charging the desired SoC kept increasing until it got to 90% when I manually stopped charging. Based on my SoC upon arrival I would have had enough charge with the original estimate!

At the time I wondered if the system was smart enough to be allowing for a change in traffic conditions or something like that but now, I just think it's a bug! I never had this happen prior to the switch to Google maps but not sure if that's related. It also doesn't happen every time.

I experienced the same thing last summer in the heat. Last part of my charges were extended when temps were above 90 degrees.

I've had this happen a lot. If you hit "Continue" (to go to the next destination) once you get to the charger, I "think" it stops raising the charge goal. It worked last time for me, at least.

Before I figured out that trick, I would just remember what the goal was when I pulled in and just charge to that percentage.
