Hi all, recently had my truck in for service which led to other issues.
Had my gear guard module swapped, and now the bed light on the left doesn’t work. Guessing part of a harness was left unplugged

also had the windshield trim repaired above the wipers. Since the repairs, I’ve had a nasty rattle over bumps somewhere in the center of my dash toward the windshield. Can’t tell if it’s inside or just outside the glass.

Wanted to know if this gap in the rubber trim is normal or perhaps the cause of my rattle. Do you all see this trim fitting flush to windshield trim or does yours have a gap too?

thanks

Put your hand on the metal mesh on top of your dashboard. That's where my rattle is coming from. I've got a service appointment (my first ever) in May and that's on the list for them to check.

Okay thanks I’ll try that! This is a pretty substantial rattle and seems to come From the metal mesh area!

The "normal" dash rattle is more like a rumble or flutter, low frequency tone. A bit like drumming or slapping of hands/fingers on a wooden desk. That's the dash and dash grille bouncing up and down, slapping against each other and what's below (dash speaker mount and support structure). Some SCs will not fix this and some have "fixed" it in similar fashion as the DIY solutions: which is to add cloth/felt tape between grill and dash to dampen contact between the parts. There are multiple threads on this.

Anything else... just take it back to service.

This is like that but much more excessive. It’s a loud piece of…something…..that’s able to move quite a bit and create this noise

Generally a video with audio provide better context than a still image. All everyone has to go by is what you’ve written.

Sounds a little bit like the typical dash flutter. If it stops with downward pressure applied, that's what it is.

This is new and pretty loud. I can’t imagine it’s normal in any way

So you were asking if it's normal but seemingly decided it isn't? Take it to SC. Some are open to customers just stopping by, have a tech ride along to ascertain urgency of issue.

Thats a common one. Been reported here many times. Everyone has had slightly different solutions that worked or didn't.

- SC replaces with a new one.
- Add some felt inside on top of the air duct.
- For me, I put felt tape along the front edge between the metal grille and dash. It lifted it enough to make the rattle stop.
