It is interesting how this happens to most people after driving a good EV for awhile. When I was younger we used to try and make our cars faster with upgrades, but mostly we just made them louder. Now that I’ve bee driving the Rivian for a bit I equate loud to being slow. ?‍♂? It pretty much doesn’t matter how loud it is, it’s slower than my quiet Rivian.

Again, at how good the R1T is, it is hands down the car I would pick to drive every single day. It's incredible at how good it truly is at being the jack of all trades. Other than managing the weight in corners, sport mode is incredible.
I was just explaining this to several folks at an autocross banquet this past weekend. It was hard to get them to understand that despite being 7k lbs the thing is so damn good overall and how well it can bomb a canyon if you respect the weight on corner entry.

It was incredibly entertaining for me to allow the small, sports cars a gap into corners and then respond with all 800+ horsepower post apex.

No kidding! I had definitely forgotten how hard it is for a 7000 pound vehicle to stop. The Suburban is only 6000 pounds but it felt like trying to stop a cruise ship in comparison.

It also shows how good the regen braking on the R1T is. I charged to 100% right before leaving on my road trip and with regen non-existent, felt like trying to stop an aircraft carrier.

Agree with OP while not perfect there is no other daily driver I'd rather have than my R1T. I rented a BMW X5 for vacation for a week and missed the R1T performance the whole time.
Apparently the Ford Mach-E is a common sidekick to the RT in consumer driveways because I have one too and also prefer Rivians UI over the ford with CP/AA. Only thing better with the Mach-E is Blue Cruise.

This thread hits close to home as well. I try to rent trucks when I'm TDY just to compare to my T and to remind me how much I really like this crazy electric truck. Yes they are rentals but all the above issues with what I rent are correct such as poor performance, fit and finish, loud and rumbly, heavy poor brakes...........My big issue I have when I drive an ICE is 1. forgetting to shut off the engine and 2 locking the damn doors!! Every day I drive my Rivian, I smile and appreciate it more and more.
