In summary, after my RIVIAN trial for TuneIn was automatically converted to a paid subscription, I attempted to cancel it via the helpdesk email. However, the helpdesk took over a week to respond. Now, someone claiming to be TuneIn person using Gmail account is requesting sensitive information like my address, card number, expiration date, and CVC number, which could be used for fraudulent purposes.

Do not provide any information! Contact your credit card company if you are charged by TuneIn. The credit card company will refund the charge and prevent any further charges from TuneIn if you so request.

Hey, I had something similar happen with the Rivian TuneIn offer. Because the TuneIn experience wasn't that good (had to keep logging back in) I cancelled it before the renewal date, removed devices from it. I still got renewed at the annual rate. The good thing is that I took screenshots.

I did contact through their ticket system and they refunded the $99.99. In my case they responded via [email protected] and not a personal Gmail account.

They did ask for the following:

"Thank you for contacting TuneIn. I'd be happy to assist you further with this charge, but I need some information from you. Could you please send us a screenshot of the charge showing the last 4 digits of the card, the date of the charge, and the cardholder's name? Regrettably, we don't have a contact number, but we can continue to discuss the issue via email."

That said, my credit card company says this was a manually entered entry and the phone number on the charge was disconnected, which is suspicious.

I unsubscribed simply in the app... Amazingly simple compared to most subscriptions

Me, too! But I have yet to verify that they didn't ignore the cancellation and go ahead and charge me.

This is really strange. It sure appears like TuneIn has suffered some sort of data breach or possibly they use a 3rd party for billing or CS and that company is not secure.

Thanks for sharing this here so others are aware.

Interesting I received an alert last evening that my credit card is being charged $10.76 for a subscription I do not have with TuneIn. Tried to cancel but not possible as I do not show an active subscription. They definitely have a problem

For those who unsubscribed via the website, I did the same well before the renewal date and was still charged.

The subscription page said that the subscription would end (and then updated that it did end) and I could optionally renew at $9.99 / month. I kept screenshots.

I still got charged $99.99 at the end of the 1 year free trial period even though it still said my subscription had ended.

Check your credit card statements. My credit card company said it looked like fraud and if I were to dispute it they would require to close out that CC and issue a new one, but so far this was the only instance and TuneIn did refund (via another transaction) the manually entered charge.

Dang, got another email this year from TuneIn for auto renewal except I don't have a subscription! Annoying AF.

(and I only have one account/email). Email bounces and they say to email no-reply@.

What a scam.

The only time I signed up for TuneIn is for the Riviain.
