Type C port heat issue

I imagine that this may have been addressed already but, my type C ports get too hot to touch while charging- is that just the way it is or do I have an issue- thanks

Where is it getting hot? In general, USB C shouldn't be hot. Resistive shorts can develop due to contamination in the plug or receptacle (water, sweat, food, etc) that can fly under the radar of the PD protocol and the source safety protection and this can cause overheating.

The connector is hot when it’s plugged in to the port

Are you using name brand cables? Cheap no name ones can have issues. What are you charging?

Poster above is correct likely the cable. Buy a name brand one. These do go bad even the best of brands do.

I’ll try a better cable and see if there is a difference. Thanks for the info. I’m sure it is a no name cable I bought off of Amazon

Update: went to best buy and dropped $20 on an official Apple cable and it’s cool as a cucumber… thanks again for the advice
