I drove briefly on the freeway this morning. I did not buy A+ yet but curious if i can use it. I swear it is there and it works!

I think you just lose hands free on the freeway, but highway assist should still work. Basically it goes back to the way it was delivered at Gen2 launch is my understanding.

Need to go see what I have, since there's no way I'm paying for it in it's current form.

I will have a to try this today. After driving from northern WA to Monterey, CA on 101 and back on I5, hands free is not dependable on a road like 101 about 90% of the time. On I5, it is good about 90%. I don’t think Rivian did enough testing on this before release. It needs to anticipate curve a bit earlier. I had an issue on I5 with auto lane change where it went two lanes over. Not good. I still like the R1.

I can confirm having driven on the highway Saturday and Sunday. Hands-free is gone. Using the turn signal to switch lanes is gone. However, dynamic cruise control + auto-steer is still there. And if you put on your turn signal and facilitate your own lane switch, dynamic cruise + auto-steer will kick back in.

We were further south on the 101 (Santa Barbara-Paso Robles) with similar experience. Kicked us out of our free UHF multiple times. Of course, when I was hauling my travel trailer, I only got dumb cruise control anyhow…

I did buy the subscription and it has been working pretty reliably.

My question comes of the icon. There are three dashes under the steering wheel, but only two of them are ever solid blue when the service is active; regardless if I am on an Interstate, State highway or marked lesser road. What condition would cause that third dash to light up on the icon? A pointer to a URL would be fine; I have no problems with RTFM (Read The Fine Manual).

The 3rd dash is the 🌶 Spicy Mode you’re not able to switch to.

No, I can go into Spicy mode. Just don't... I had my fill of "A$$hole" mode with our Tesla. Mediocre is just fine for me.

The dashes represent “Mild,” “Medium,” and “Spicy” driving styles while UHF is engaged. You change this with right or left scroll with controls in right side of steering wheel.

When my Gen 2 was delivered in May 2025, it had Enhanced Highway Assist. Now I only have Highway Assist. I shouldn't have to pay a subscription for something that was originally included, unless I was notified of that when I bought the vehicle, like I was when I bought our Lyriq. We knew SuperCruise was a three-year trial.

It was very clear that Autonomy+ was a trial. Enhanced Highway Assist is part of Autonomy+ and was clearly spelled out. If you didn't understand that, it's on you.
