I'm not happy with my heat either. it seems to get up to temperature, but once it reaches it blows cold. increasing temperature does not make it blow hot. looking at the graphs, i know the heater works, but they were small trips. i'll need monitor this closer the next time i have an hour drive (when i first noticed i could not get warm).

Heater works fine for me. Not quite as easy to dial in as an ice vehicle, but it's ok. Can't seem to get that outside part of my left thigh warm though.

The only way I'm able to get my temperature correct is to turn on the middle seat vents (not the floor). This will keep things toasty. If I don't, the temp only gets so hot and I run into the same issue as the original post.

I'm hoping to get a software fix to the problem because the SC is a 4 hour roundtrip.

Now that it is colder again here (32ish), I am going to bump this again, and see if anyone can help.

I had the heat running on Auto, high fan, temp "HI," this morning, and the air coming out of the vents was 95 degrees, per my thermometer. The cabin gets bearable, but not warm, and definitely never hot.

Would anyone else be able to check what the air coming out of their vents reads at, with an infrared thermometer?

I am going to submit a ticket for this, but curious if anyone has recommendations for the best settings to get the hottest air coming out, for the time being.

I'll give it a shot in a bit and report back.

Have you tried recirc? Trying to heat 32°F air is harder than room temp air that's already heated.

In addition to recirc, try a fan speed setting a notch or two lower than HI.

I have not, but will try recirculate. I'm used to "auto" also switching between recirculate and fresh air automatically, weird that it stays manual with Rivian.

IMHO auto is trash, I avoid it.

Edit to add:
If you're not using recirc and fan is on highest level, you need to crack a window to get actual highest fan speed. Rivian is sealed very well so that air blowing in has no where to go, and isn't really blowing high.

I never use auto either. In manual mode the heating is fine.

The vents never seem to really shut off when you turn them off, that is kinda annoying. But, I get plenty of heat pretty quickly after starting the drive.

Location is Minnesota so temps are around 30 now.

I saw 111°F after about a minute warm-up with no recirc and windows cracked in a 50s°F garage. I tried closing windows and recirc on, no temp change.

Thanks. Mine did get there this morning after fiddling around a bit with settings. Very annoying to constantly have to tinker with the HVAC. What's the point of auto, then?

To increase your skepticism of technology and reduce your dependence on automation ?
