I’ve had my 23 R1T dual motor with off road package for about 3 months. Took it off road for the first time today on what i would call a pretty tame dirt trail with a few minor rocky parts. Driving in off road mode with highest suspension height. The truck performed great but a few miles down the trail i got an error stating “air suspension performance limited until serviced". I finished driving the trail and the suspension and everything else seemed to be functioning normally. At the end of the trail I pulled over to activate all purpose mode and normal suspension height before getting back on the paved road. Suspension lowered like it should and I pulled onto the road and drove as normal about 15 minutes back to my dad's house. Handling and ride feel on the road seemed fine. Once I was parked I raised and lowered the suspension a couple of times and it seemed to be working normally. Since the error was still showing I called service to see what the recommendation was. As I expected they had me do an infotainment reset and a vehicle reset. Error is still showing so they recommend a service appointment. The lead time to get a mobile appointment right now is about 10 weeks (SC appointment lead time is about a month longer). I booked it so it seems like its going to be a long time before i have any answers from rivian on this.

Has anyone seen this error and can offer any advice? It seems like the truck is functioning fine so I'm planning to continue driving it until service can have a look but I'm curious if anyone has any experience with this issue or insight.

I've seen a few posts where air hoses weren't tightly connected and came loose. If you put the vehicle on "highest" and walk around it, do you hear any hissing? Leave it overnight - any noticeable indication that one corner or another has leaked down? I'd also see if anything is different after a sleep cycle. Good luck, let us know what they say!

Thanks for this. I did a little more investigation and went under the truck with the suspension set to highest and pretty quickly discovered that a bracket that holds the air hose in place is missing a screw on one of the rear wheels. The screw must have vibrated loose on the trail. I don’t hear any hissing or notice any air loss in the system but driving around without the hose bracket secured I’m sure the next step is the hose coming loose.

I know a lot has already been said about this but I’m going to agree that Rivians service experience and lead times leave a lot to be desired especially when it’s a super simple issue like this that could be fixed in 5 minutes. Hopefully they can make some improvements before it costs them customers.

Agree on service. Service folks at the service center are awesome, but the process is not acceptable. It's been like this for well over a year.

Another possibility is a ride height sensor maybe?

☝? This

I've been dealing with this for months and don't have an appointment until September, they refuse to diagnose remotely and removed it from the mobile service ticket the day before my mobile service appointment, so the tech didn't know it was a problem and didn't have the tools to diagnose.

...Buuuut for me, it's a faulty sensor or wiring connector on the suspension. Each wheel has 3 sensors/plugs, and when I get a car wash or do dusty roads, there's dust/water ingress into one of the plugs which sets off the sensors. Let it dry out or unplug/replug (I know which of the 12 plugs it is), notification goes away.

Push them to attempt mobile service.

My S is in the shop right now for a suspension issue…different from yours but I was coming out to it in the morning with the front end considerably lower than the back…

Anyway, I was told 6 weeks before the first available appointment but I pushed back saying that a suspension issue is not something I take lightly and who knows what further damage may occur if I keep driving it (the truck would raise up just fine, but I didn’t want to risk it). After a brief hold, the advisor came back and gave me an appointment just 2 days later. Probably worth you asking if they can help faster given it’s a pretty important safety system of the truck.

lastly, you tried a software reset but have you done a full vehicle reset?

I'd take a picture of the part in question and add it to the ticket. Then state that if this bracket comes loose while driving, you're concerned that the bracket may get caught in the spinning wheel (if it's anywhere close to the wheel) or other suspension parts, or it may also break the air line which could cause you to lose control of the vehicle which may cause an accident. Come at this from a safety concern perspective. I'd be surprised if they don't magically find you an appointment that's much sooner.

Bingo, good guess (at least in my case).

I got the same warning about the air suspension. Took about a month and a half to get the service appt, vehicle remained drivable.

The ride high sensor is a lever arm that connects to the suspension with a bolt. In my case the bolt had fallen out on the passenger rear wheel, and the ride height sensor was hanging full-open. So the vehicle was sensing ride height as something like 50mm, 45mm, 55mm, 255mm and not very happy about that. (Service tech could see the raw outputs).

Luckily the (mobile service) technician had the right bolt in his truck and it was an easy repair done while rotating the tires.

Thought I would update this thread now that I've had a service appointment. Took about 10 weeks from my initial call until the appointment. The tech said I had done a pretty good job finding the issue and reattaching the sensor arm with an off the shelf bolt from the hardware store but he replaced it with a rivian factory bolt and inspected and tightened all other bolts under the truck.

The mobile service experience was actually quite good, the wait time for an appointment was just far too long. He confirmed another SC is set to open in southern california in the next few months so hopefully that helps.

I have gotten that same message four or five times (at least) in the last ten days or so (the pop up only lasts a few seconds). I haven't been offroad (or even on dirt roads) in quite awhile. Rivian originally scheduled me for a mobile appointment, but they canceled that and rescheduled for an appointment at the SC - I'm taking it in tomorrow morning.
I have noticed that it at low speeds it now feels like a wheel is out of balance, or a tire out of round, but not at higher speeds.
