Greetings! 2025 Gen 2 R1S here. I believe this has been covered before, but I'm still confused. Is there a way to unlock the vehicle without waking it up? I often find myself needing to put something into or remove something from the vehicle while it's parked, and every time I unlock it, it wakes up, and is often quite loud. My understanding is that the loud noise is just the vehicle adjusting to the heat (as it's been pretty hot here in NC), so I'm not worried about the noise. I just wish I could unlock it without waking it up. Is that possible?

No, but why? It doesn't hurt anything. Your only option would be to shut down the AC before parking it or via the app. And I also feel mildly annoyed when I need to go out to get/put something in and it fires up, but also realize I'm just being emotional for no reason.

I agree, this would be helpful. if I'm just tossing some boxes in the back seat I don't need the screens to kick on, air conditioning to start humming, suspension to start leveling and clicking, and all that. Seems a waste of power, if nothing else. ?

No. You don't want your car to sleep walk. EVs are computers on wheels. The gen 2 has 7 computers. Just like your personal computer, it has to be on and awake to do things. Only way to unlock without waking first is what car thieves would do... manipulate the mechanical door latch with a slim jim... which would wake and trigger the alarm.

Falls under the header of "no power button". Rivian turns on when Rivian feels like turning on.

The loud noise might be the AC air compressor, so turning off the AC when you park the car would ensure it doesn't kick on every time you open a door.

Mine doesn't do that. Why would it? The truck stays in kneel mode when parked, coming or going.
Some of us are tall enough that we don't need kneel mode.

I think most people are. Why would it change if in standard mode, or low mode? I've never seen it do any heigh changes just for waking.

What did vertically challenged people do before kneel mode was possible in any car? They don't buy cars that don't fit them. Or, they carry on their bodies adapt—they gain leg and core strength.

Yes, the car makes noises when it wakes. But it's not like wake-the-dead loud. After 1 year of ownership, most "normal" noises (even rattles due to design flaw) aren't even notable to me.

I want to figure out how to get my Gen2 to open my door without having to wait 15 seconds using the key card since they didn't give us a key fob this go around...
