I'm fascinated by this every time we have an update. For the record - I never want to be the first to update or even in the first 10%. No matter how much testing is done the real test is installation on actual vehicles in use. I've just started downloading the update and I'm fine with that.

Waah, waaah….waaaah

No one is guaranteed to be first to download, in the first batch or at the same time during every update. It’s not even a week since it was pushed to the public.

Unless that other poster has had repeated connectivity issues, which btw, could be related to the WiFi you are connected. You might be wasting the SCs time.

Im definitely canceling the service appointment- if this is such a well known construct that you need to reset your vehicle, maybe that is the procedure Rivian communicates.

on my i7, I know after an update, to get number sync to work with my iPhone, I need to reset the vehicle infotainment system.
Takes a couple minutes and isn't a problem.
Thought Rivian might have better programmers, but they are both lacking in getting their upgrade system dialed.

not sure why you're offended by an owner perplexed with their new vehicle being in the 5% bucket to get an update pushed when a simple reboot was the answer.

I spent a bit of time troubleshooting before realizing the issue wasn't my WiFi. I'm on 5 gig fiber and parked 10 feet from the router. I can't imagine just being unlucky with the way the staggered deployment works.

I think it's very feasible to get the connectivity looked at.

does it cost you any money when a service request happens?

go touch some grass and take your grumpy attitude with ya.

The one that seems offended and grumpy is you. Even if you were pushed to the last 1%. show us where Rivian guaranteed you would be in the first 1%.

You post in a forum, you are open to all responses. Maybe you should go touch the grass and take your entitled attitude out as well.

You do you. Go get that vehicle checked. It is your choice. May be they find an issue.

BTW: In the three years I have owned my T, I have reset the s/w and vehicle, trying to get the update. It has helped and not helped. I did not post to a forum to complain about it. I have complained about other issues.

Somebody has to be last and in this case you were near the end of the line.

Rivian's software update process has been incredibly rock solid excepting a couple of bad pushes that impacted the fleet negatively (eg, the bad cert incident) but were promptly corrected.

If the reboot had any bearing whatsoever on your situation (which under normal circumstances it 100% does not), it would have been due to rebooting a module experiencing a problem and isolated to your vehicle. The 2 things are not fundamentally related - you get the update whenever Rivian devices to push it to your vehicle. In my 3+ years of ownership, I've been at the beginning of the distribution and I've been near the end waiting well over a week for an update. In the early days I could almost detect a rotation pattern in where I would be in each release push. These days I've pretty consistently been getting updates on day 1 or 2.

I wasn't late getting the update due to bad luck, it was because rebooting was needed -

In the driveway before leaving; I reset the vehicle. Then within a half hour, I get a notification thru Rivian Roamer that the update was available.

on the way home I downloaded it from my phone with WiFi as a hotspot.

I understand the staggered release schedule.

this wasn't that.

With my BMW, I never had to reset infotainment to get an update, just when eSIM was flukey.

this appears that I was in queue for the duration but since vehicle wasn't reset the connectivity didn't happen.

correlation is not causation but believe what you want. like I said, a reboot has no bearing on your place in the update queue. The timing of the Rivian Roamer notification all but confirms the update timing was pure coincidence. Now, if you had received the notification days earlier but your vehicle still didn't download it for several days until right after the reboot, then I would say that the reboot resolved a software glitch local to your vehicle. But what you've told us indicates the opposite.

Once again, incorrect.

In Rivian Roamer, this portion of the update section only showed "idle " when clearly the 07 version was on the vehicle.

Now after the update and reset, it shows this - so, the connectivity wasn't working until the reset.

I saw a few other posts where other owners said this was a well known thing to try.

I figured, with all the trouble shooting I did making sure I had a strong connection and even changing the time for download a few dozen times -

it never worked on hotspot or home WiFi in the driveway.

the fact that it let me download the entire update while driving connected to hotspot is wild.

fair enough, just working with the limited info you have provided.

does RR still have a version history dashboard like this where you can share the timeline?
