Does anyone know if Rivian will be posting updated delviery windows or be posting ecds on the website. With everything going on I am assuming what was sent out last year is completely obe by this point. I know this is no fault to Rivian but it would be nice to have an approximate date updated quarterly or something similar. May 2021 R1T preorder and I was hoping to get something by the end of the year.

Rivian has emailed customers a few months back and i believe even mentioned it before that the updated delivery windows will come with the online tool that they release sometime this year.

It seems clear that OP got that late-2021 email. I think they (and I) are hoping for updates now that we are 4 months into the year. Not that I expect them given Rivian’s history, but even factoring in the pricing debacle, we are well past when they should have implemented the delivery timing feature on the website.

perhaps it’s not great news so they’re delaying the launch until after the May earnings call?

I'd put money on the feature coming to the account page just ahead of earnings on May 11.

Not my money, but someone's money.

In a CS chat I had a few days ago I was told that the delivery window will be added to our accounts in the next few months. I think it is a good bet that it will not be before May 11.

they have been saying they are going to release this feature on the configurator for months now. Some CS reps said weeks, a couple of weeks ago, while others said months. Either is fine but the fact that their message is so inconsistent is the frustrating part. Stumble after stumble and they still haven't figured it out.

I agree, frustrated with their messaging. As far as delivery windows posted in the configuration I think Rivian needs to better understand their manufacturing timeline. They have an idea based on calculations, but I don’t think they even know realistically how long it takes them to complete an order… based on supply constraints and the fact it’s a new plant where things just go wrong.

The fact that we haven't seen a delivery window update yet means in my mind that RIVIAN doesn't have a handle on supply chain and their production volume as a consequence to have enough confidence to predict timing well enough.

The last thing they want to do is launch a delivery window tool or update that isn't realistic and that results in expectations not being met which would make them look bad. In RIVIAN's calculations (and my own) it is better to not have a tool than to have a tool that is going to be wrong and lead to more backlash.

Realistically, I think they are likely to only know delivery windows for the near term (1-3 months).

If you haven't gotten any information my working assumption is you are much more than 3 months out of delivery.

Two weeks ago I asked if they knew anything more than 1H2023 for me. The response I got was that the delivery window estimate tool was set to launch “this year”.
So… they have some time still

The online delivery planning tool was originally promised to be rolled out “early 2022,” whatever that meant, then the pricing fiasco happened and evidently a bunch of the it resources were diverted to fixing that mess. Ever since the most anyone has been able to get out of css on this topic has been that it will be available “in the coming months.”

Given that rivian is likely going to ditch the “build to order” type marketing and instead “match to existing build”, I suspect the newer preorders will be rolled into a new system that really just displays an estimated production window where a car like yours might be build. This would explain the slow and inefficient rollback of pre march 1st orders. What were seeing here is a system designed for a different type of rollout and I’ll bet already is planned for sunset.

At this point I expect to have my vehicle delivered before they post the updated delivery windows. I think everyone with Launch Edition will be in the same boat, and only those with delivery next year and beyond will benefit from the new tool.

I just asked customer service when the delivery updates will appear in our accounts. They said it's still being worked on and will be available in the "coming months".
My hope is that will be by July. coming months just not as good as coming weeks, is it?

My hope it will be available for Aug/Sept through December. We'll see.

I suspect that if Rivian were to provide ETA's based on their current production rate, people who had previously been told Q3 2022 would get an update that says Q3 2023.

That would make Rivian look terrible, so they won't give access to the ETA tool until they have reached the point in their ramp that they are on track to meet/beat the prior ETAs.

They are probably hoping that whatever the current bottleneck is (parts supply) will resolve itself at some point and their production will quickly ramp up but they quite reasonably can't say if that will happen tomorrow or 6 months from now so they are holding back on making any more commitments that they may not be able to meet.
