FYI for folks in the Austin area: the staff confirmed the Rivian showroom will open the end of April. And - there are already a number of Rivian chargers installed in the off-street parking lot, right behind the Rivian and Yeti spaces.

I'm interested in your thoughts on the cargo space. You said massive, any guesstimates as to the dimensions? I feel like it's probably really similar to the current 4Runner and I'm hoping so.

Well I drive a Range Rover Evoque and used to drive an Xterra and the R2 is bigger than both of those. So, not 100% sure of the dimensions but we’re a family of 4 w/a dog and we’ll have plenty of space for anything we’d need.

Better for press photos - if you pay attention, nearly all "photo shoot" cars have fully darkened windows.

And standard practice in the biz. I had a hand in just about all shots of CX-90 and 70 shots on Mazda’s site. Tinting reduce visual clutter. Shifts attention to exterior design of car. Plus, hide driver, who may not have given clearance to show his/her face in widely distributed images/videos.

Thank you! I currently drive a Subaru Outback and the hatch angle is going to make it very difficult to impossible for my having my labrador and golden retriever in crates in the back once the retriever is full grown. A 4Runner was going to be my next car until the R2 hit my radar.

Awesome and the R2 is perfect for a dog given the roofs non angle and the best part is the back lift gates window that can retract while still having the lift gate closed. I can see my dog thoroughly loving hanging out in the back with the liftgate down and the side back windows popped open.

I believe so. They all had the green band around the top of them. I pulled in at first yesterday, but was asked to move - they told me the parking lot was reserved this weekend for the Rivian teams and the Yeti SXSW performers.

I would have thought the truck used for the reveal and these events would have better panel alignment / fitting. The lift gate and light bar appear to be poorly aligned in that first photo by OP

I'd buy a Rivian co-branded Yeti cooler that fits the frunk.

YES! It needs to fit perfectly, so it doesn’t rattle around.

Adding to the thread with the photos that I took while I was at the event on Friday. Amazing to see the R2 in person and it fully reinforced my decision to place a reservation. I can't wait to hear more about the vehicle as they get into production and start deliveries.
