Thanks for the details. The Kia Nav is pretty bad so I'm looking forward to something better. I tried ABRP in the past but didn't like it as much as Plugshare. I'll have to look again for my next trip.
I typically get an idea of my route using Google Maps and then plan stops using Plugshare to find places where there's food when I charge.

I like the Rivian navigation system. It uses Google Maps as the map infrastructure, and the routing matches what I get on my phone using Google Maps. The only feature I miss is the ability to report road hazards and speed traps. Rivian has not integrated that capability yet. Not sure if they will, but I am hopeful.

I use ABRP to plan the trip, as @KBabione posted. I don't use it while driving or navigating. Once I figure out the route I want to take, I send it to Google Maps and then from there I send it to my Rivian. That is another thing that is really cool - you can make the plan in ABRP or Google Maps, and when you are happy with it, send it to your truck navigation.

You don't have to use ABRP to plan the trip. You can use the Rivian app, or just the navigation in the truck itself. But I am picky about where I stop to charge, and I want to research amenities that are near the charging station. And I like to plan sitting at my computer, not sitting in the truck. BTW - you can check amenities using the Rivian nav while sitting in the truck, but again I like to plan ahead and not on the fly.

If configured correctly, ABRP is extremely accurate regarding estimated SoC at arrival. So I can plan with confidence.
The send to truck feature is awesome! I have in the past been picky about stops for the same reasons, I think I'll borrow your planning methods for future trips.

I'm thinking about throwing the dog in the car and driving to the 1000 Islands in Alexandria Bay, NY. Roughly 2700 miles. The longest trip I've done with the Rivian is about 500 miles. Any advice? (other than fly and all the other smart ass comments ... seriously asking)
Sounds awesome! I hope you do it. Should have zero issues with charging unless you go well off the beaten path, and even then it's doable. I have done a 5k road trip from Central California to Missouri. On the way back I went through South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. There were a couple stretches where there was no plan B for charging, but I experienced no problems and had a great trip. 21 days, 15 states, 5000 miles. I've also done a 2k trip to Idaho, and have another 2k trip planned to Bellingham, WA later this summer. Pro tip: Use Ionna rechargeries when possible. That is your cheapest charging option. It requires no membership. Also, buy a 1-month Tesla membership. It will pay for itself in one charge.

All the advice is awesome. Thank you. I think this is happening. I buily a little dashboard that i can pull up on my phone and share with people who want to track me ... it also allows me to add photos. Yes, I know, this functionality already exists in about 1000 apps but it was fun to build this morning and I may continue to add features along the trip. AI makes this so easy!

I'm not a Rivian owner yet, just a EV6 (hoping for an R2 soon), why not use the native nav system? It is one thing I am looking forward too since the EV6 one is terrible.
Also, don't you need a OBD dongle to get real time battery info for ABRP plus the ABRP subscription?

I use ABRP to create the route, I have it set up for my cars, it doesn’t need live data for how I use it but I can get it from both vehicles on the basic plan.

Using ABRP just makes it easy to plan in the living room before I have to leave. I could use the on board navigation but for me easier just to use that from stop to stop and let it tell me when U’m good to go from that charger.

My last trip was 59 charge sessions total. I ran it in 4 different sessions based on the individual destinations I wanted.

I also have it set for short legs, usually 9-130 miles between charges, has me stopping every couple of hours but rarely have to charge past 65% and keeps it in the faster charge rates for pretty short stops.
