On the flip side, I also sell things and understand that as a business owner I have to make good on what I say I will do. I always make sure that what I offer exists, even if I get the pricing wrong and need to eat it.

This. This is exactly what they should be doing. Full stop. I am also a business owner and have had to eat the costs when I've made a mistake. No one forced me to, but it was the right thing to do.

I have thick skin. Nothing you say or anyone say will affect me. However, I find it disingenuous that you don't acknowledge the breach in the agreement. It doesn't bother you that they agreed to a refund and then reneged?
I find it disingenuous that you have still not acknowledged your own mistake in ordering the wrong item. Multiple people have clearly explained it to you and illustrated with screenshots, yet you refuse to acknowledge your part in this. It’s obviously very poor customer service to reneg on an agreed resolution but you also have only shared a few snippets of the back and forth so we don’t have the full context.

I bought their gear tunnel sled and was completely satisfied with product, price, and service. So asking people to avoid doing business with them based on one questionable transaction is a bit much. I can however sympathize with your ordeal.

I bet you ordered what you wanted though ;) And that item what was listed on your invoice? $5 says its also what they shipped to you. Crazy how your experience went well.

Thanks for the review on the sled, I'm still undecided if I need one of those in my life since use it for a variety of things and usually value cramming every cubic inch in I can vs easy access.

Steven, no need to be condescending. I don't care if you or the few other dudes on here don't think this is a big deal. I put the community on notice of their business practices. Even if this saves one person some headache, i've accomplished my goal. Btw, the parties both acknowledged mistakes were made, hence the resolution, which they later breached. Painting me in a negative light without acknowledging their breach is one sided on your part.

Sites usually have an out with regards to pricing errors. Regardless, it's poor customer service to throw the customer under the bus. As a show of good faith, to make up for the confusion, the vendor should take care of the customer in some way. It appears that there was an initial agreement, but it was tossed. That's terrible customer service x 2.
Agree 100%. In retail, any transaction between vendor and customer done “in good faith” should follow these simple 2 rules:

Rule #1: the customer is always right

Rule #2: if the customer is wrong, see Rule #1

I appreciate the support, but the customer is not always right. However, once the parties come to a resolution, they should honor their agreement. Thank you though.

I was being somewhat facetious, but it really is the motto of most retailers. As you’ve said, you came to an agreement, and they reneged. Was it worth the bad press they’re getting here? Unlikely.

If they’d taken care of you, there’d be a completely different thread, and they might have garnered some business from people here knowing they’ll take care of their customers. Now…

I did understand, hence the agreement to resolve the matter with a partial refund. Why are you not addressing the breach in the agreement? It's like you are purposely ignoring that aspect.
I did address that. The human being who made the offer was not authorized to make that offer. Once the real person in charge saw it, they said "no". I don't agree with that approach at all, but based on the piece of the communication you shared, that is what happened.

I also recommended you escalate the issue to the person who is authorized, instead of some lower level help desk person who should never have offered that resolution.

Anyway, it is an unfortunate situation for everyone. And they do need to make their website more clear. I just am not one who wants to punish another person for a mistake if there is a equitable way to resolve it.

Late to the game, but I just looked at the product link and there is no way to know that OP was ordering the wrong thing. This should 100% on EVbase.

Kind of reminds me of the AliExpress ads where you see a full Soldering station thumbnail on the home or search page and you think $27.27 for the full setup pictured. But, when you land on the product page you see the full setup is actually $80.20. Only difference is they fool you in to clicking on the product page, they don't show/sell you one thing and deliver another.

My situation is a little different. I didn't see any other prices on their checkout page on my phone. Plus, my invoice reflects the items they said were included. Even if it's for a different item at a different price, you would expect the invoice to accurately reflect what you're buying.

It simply isn’t true and yet you keep repeating it. Your invoice doesn’t reflect any such thing. That’s just the title of the product, regardless of which of the four sub-products/models you select below. You appear to have missed the 4 different model options when checking out, yet you did see the 2 lettering options (with/without letters) just below that since you chose the “without letters” option, which is not the default.

It’s a poor website design and bad customer service, but nowhere near the “gaslighting” and “manipulating” you described in your original post.

You ordered the wrong product and you received what you paid for.
