From my experience Fife does not like rock sliders and in a scenario where they are not in the way of work they may still require it off. I don't know if it requires them off for motor work, but it's probably best to leave them at home vs. getting charged or them just taking it off and giving them to you. They don't exactly fit back into the vehicle easily.
Good news is they didn't say anything at drop off.

Bad news is they haven't said anything since that afternoon. The truck hasn't moved from the same place in the service bay.

I was at the Fife location for a tire rotation for almost 4 hours for a tire rotation and inspection (not my choice). When they were done they said they couldn't do the rotation, but offered to take off the rock sliders and then do it. So I drove to FW and just got it done for free there without the scheduling hassle and only waiting 2hrs for a drop-in. It was early into Fife opening, so maybe they've changed a little now.

Well, they haven't said anything about rock sliders, but confirmed today it's not just the disconnect but the entire rear drive unit. Parts will delay it a week then it'll take a couple days to complete.

Is it too early to ask how? Also, is it covered? Cheers.

Probably is too early, if I see a tech at pickup I ask mechanical/technical Qs.

No mention of it NOT being covered, which she said at drop off she'd mention before any work began, so I'm going with... Under warranty.

It's really difficult to tell from the photos, but in your third picture it looks to me like something hit and damaged the half shaft at some point.
But my observations aren't worth squat. I would be very interested to hear what Rivian comes up with when you take it in.
I'm sorry you have to go through this. The only way it could have been worse is if Grandma flipped you off as you went into Turtle Mode trying to pass her.

Got it back today! Culprit: failed disconnect that threw debris into drive unit. They installed a remanufactured drive unit, which makes sense to me, but it's the first time I've seen refab'd parts for Rivian.

Halfshafts and ting washers were reused, guess they just needed some grease and tightening, because all my clunks are gone!

That's the good news, bad news is I got home and started hearing a hiss from the left rear... I couldn't isolate it, but took measurements of damper and tank pressures to see if they drop.

Refab parts are now common afaik - both of the ‘New‘ AXM2.0’s I’ve been given under warranty are refabs.

Edit: also really sorry about the damper/tank issue - hope that gets sorted quickly if it’s not right.
