August 22 pre-order, never got an email but can now configure. No quad motor option.

Same here didn’t even know I can configure until I saw your reply. Once you configure you cannot get your deposit back right? Does it give you an estimated delivery date once you configure?

I believe that's correct, no refund. Not sure about estimated date.... I'm still cross shopping and may need a price cut or 24 update to proceed. Could buy now but don't really need a new car until end of 24 which is closer to the estimate when I reserved.

Yeah I feel like I’m probably not purchasing unless there’s a price cut so didn’t want to lose the deposit. I assume you didn’t proceed with the config then?

Yeah, didn't proceed. Also don't want to lose deposit. I'm tempted to ask them about the quad and see if they give store access. I could see a discount in the store towards end of quarter, even if it's just on the performance dual.

I also wonder if no quad means they're switching to in house quad for 24?

My other thought is the max battery tech (increased efficiency) will trickle down to large battery for 24 and help cut costs.

Max battery tech won't trickle down since its the older battery tech. The new ones are a different type and is being used in EDVs right now, and possibly onto the standard pack.

Anyways,
Aug 2022 tax credit deadline week reservation, and got configuration access last week. Configuration email didnt come in til a few days later. No standard pack or quad motor available in shop.

Didn't lock in yet. Really hoping for a drop in the max pack pricing since the extra range will be crucial in winter driving with a cargo box going up the mountain. We'll see. I also dont need a new car since my current ICE SUV will get me to my destination with minimal fuss.

Wonder if Rivian is just trying to get more people committed with the 1k before their next move.

I locked my configuration 10/02 and mine still says processing estimate. My guess is that we won’t get a date/window until they do their update in November.

Not true on the battery piece. The new max pack has a different chemistry that allows them to only put in only a few more modules but receive more mileage/efficiency in conjunction with the Enduro motors.

I’ve been invited to configure (reserved October of 22) and am waiting until 2025. I toon believe they’ll be adding Enduro Quad next year (along with NACS in 2025) and need the time to continue to save.

I was mentioning how the max pack technologies are not flowing downwards to the standard pack. Standard pack is the battery technology used in the EDV.
