After a day of going down forum, youtube, fb pages, website rabbit holes (which was actually fun for me), I'm going with EV Sportline. Interestingly EV Sportline received 77% of 79 votes in a poll I held on one of the Rivian FB pages I follow.

Very excited to get going. Very concerned about my ability to not screw up the underbody plastic paneling when I cut circular holes for the brackets!

I'd wondered about this. How are people doing it ? I've watched the install video for both the EV Sportline and the Hansshow - and both left the plastic off after the install. Given the other thread about invalidating the warranty, I figured I'd rather get the protection of the plastic back to keep road gunk off the metal body underneath. So cutting holes seems to be the way to go, so any tips / tools that are recommended ?

Here's a video of them showing how EV Sportline does the circular cut, a pattern they provide, and a tool they sell for your drill to make the cut:

Here's a link to this forum showing how others think about sealing up the hole afterwards:

The things I have gotten from them are more cheaply made, in general.
Depends on the product tbh. If you’re talking about smaller accessories, they’re probably repackaged goods from overseas. There are a handful of items they’ve designed and manufactured in the USA.

That could be. The things I’ve gotten from them have been small items. Cheap imports for the most part.

Don’t know if other running board brands have this problem, I assume it’s not limited to just EV Sportline (which all in all we love) but boy do these freeze up in the cold. To the point that it made it a little tricky to open/close the door and when it did it sounded like the plastic trim was getting stuck. Tried kicking it off but the 0 deg temps made it difficult. Just a word of caution to those in colder areas. Open them doors slowly

I'm curious where that bar ends at the other end ? it looks like it's pretty 'short' on this end. What does it look like by the back door ? I have the hannshow boards, and drove to Leadville and back last weekend, so a ton of snow / ice. But my bar finishes further up - in line with the gap for the door - so the build up is under the bar, and not obstructing the door. I was just able to stamp on the bar, and the gunk fell off. Any chance you can adjust the bar so it goes a bit further forwards ?

(I took my car through a carwash once it warmed up mid-week, it wasn't looking like this over the weekend...)

These appear to be the actual evbase steps vs everyone loving on the Sportline models. Whats been your experience? Any buyers remorse?

yes - that's what others have said. The Hansshow and EVBase boards appear to be the same. I got them Christmas day with a coupon posted on these forums for $410, so considerably cheaper than Sportline. Now that they're on / installed, I'm very happy with them.

I suspect they were harder to install. Sportline have some videos where they show you how to use 4 inch hole saw to drill into the plastic underbody to find the exact location of the mounts. You can then install the boards directly onto those without having to remove the plastic. There are then other threads of how people use gorilla tape to close any remaining gaps.

Hansshow doesn't have that - and with the design - it wouldn't work anyway. So I had to remove the plastic sections, install the boards, and then figure out the plastic underbody. Quite a few people I saw here didn't bother to put the plastic back, but I'm in Colorado, with tons of wet road gunk in the winter, and wanted the protection. So I had to figure out how to cut the plastic to get it back on. That took some trial and error and took me several hours. I then use the gorilla tape. If they were the same price, I'd probably go the easier route with Sportline, but now they're on - the Hansshow/EVBase model is probably just as good, perhaps better based on the last post. So no - no buyers remorse.

#2 is what I got, and I’m happy with it so far. Also, you should’ve made this into a poll. ;)

If your looking for running boards only, EVbase is my choice. They are the most economically priced and the new design is nice. They are sturdy too. I have a code for 20% off as well.

All the options are good though and if you need rock sliders for off road protection then its EVsportline or DCE.

I did a video on the EVBASE running boards.

I recommend against EV base. They look great but you can jack up the vehicle with them on. I have Rivian come out to do a service and they showed me how the mounting hardware covers the rear jack point. They also hang too low and the Rivian jack crushes them while jacking the vehicle. The tech said those are the only model running board that does that.

I will get rid of them and buy the EV sportline which have a much slimmer profile on the bottom of the car. I wish I could have gotten a better look at the hardware of both before I purchased. It seems they now have better pictures of them. It is clear the EV Sportline running boards have superior mounting.

Yep. The EV Base ones do this.
Possibly not quite as bad. I think the bar might extend further forward and the snow sticks to the bottom.

I'm surprised RealWheels EV is not on your list... to me, it is one of the best here.

I have had them on both vehicles and have taken both in for service and received nothing but compliments on them from the service center staff.

They don't block the jacking points and with the pucks they still clear the vehicle. Also, I have had no problems with the EVBASE runners in the cold.

The EVBASE running sit a tad lower making it easier to use as a step in. They have enough clearance between the cladding and the runners to avoid any freezing issues as well.

With that said the EVS runners are also good and I'm sure you will be happy with them.

Nice photoshop on the license plate :) Was wondering why only one tow hook was covered up until I zoomed in.
