Not me.

From what limited information out there it appears to be an answer to a question that nobody has asked. I suppose glampers who also want to impress people by driving it to the valet at the Four Seasons will be interested.

It looks like Dr. Frankenstein sewed it together from body parts of an Aztec and Delorean.

I do like the length of the box and I am intrigued, but skeptical, about the box adjust/lift system. I also think people who say it will cost in the 80k range are delusional.

If it is ever produced, it seems like it is competition for the hummer and not the R1T.
Agreed. Look at the rest of the Tesla line, there’s no way a cybertruck costs 80k when a model X costs 120 base for any sort of options.

Long range towing is the only thing that hasn't been solved, and I don't see the Cybertruck filling this gap.
I think we won't see any reasonable attempt at it with the current energy density of mass-market batteries. Ram's Range extended 1500 might be the only reasonable option in the next several years. Packaging restrictions are just going to be too big of a problem for BEVs.

GM is supposed to be bringing their first HD EV trucks to market in 2025+, most likely will be dependent on them starting production of the second generation of their ultium batteries.

You are aware there are over a million preorders, right? Far more people are looking forward to buying a Cybertruck than a Rivian. If that remains the case when the real Cybertruck rather than the original make believe show car goes on sale remains to be seen but to suggest there isn’t wild enthusiasm for it is silly. Has any vehicle in history garnered more preorders than the Cybertruck?
You’re aware most of these preorders happened when the quoted Price of the thing was 35k for the base model right? Hell I’ll buy one for 35k. Once the new six figure price tag comes out that preorder list will shrink.

TBH, these preorders are what game theorists call "cheap talk"

The biggest unknown? Revised pricing.

I'm super curious how much the $49,990 Dual Motor will cost. I'm guessing $69,990.

Exactly when its $100 and the Rivian was $1000 its a hey I will through $100 at this and see if I get a truck early I can flip. $100 reservations have no real commitment is all I'm saying.

I'm not aware of that because it's not true. The original base price was $39,900. More importantly, that base model only represented about 7% of the preorder mix. The question was, "who's excited about the Cybertruck." The fact is a huge number of people are. Excited enough that over a million people put money down. Even if the CT debuts at $79,420 with less range and power than originally announced, it will be sold out for years and people will lose their minds when they see one on the road. You think an R1T gets attention, wait until you see one of these freakish mutant delorians driving by.

This is exactly why I don't think the Cybertruck will be very successful long term. Initially it will be a hit with a bunch of people buying purely for the wow and attention factor. Once a bunch are on the road and no one cares, then the owners are left with a giant expense truck. Sales will drop.

In order to maintain sales it needs to offer a compelling reason to buy this truck over the competition. I don't see it outside of the wow factor at the moment.

The Aztec is literally the only rental car I have ever declined to accept in 30 years of renting vehicles. I just told them I couldn't do it.... :asshat: I even accepted a Nissan Cube one time so that tells you something...

I said 35 off the cuff and it was 39,900. That's splitting hairs just a little bit don't you think?

Many still seem to doubt Tesla is going to produce the CT... well the 9,000 ton clamping force Idra Giga Press made specifically for the CT arrived in Houston last week and will be shipped/installed in the Austin plant s00n (sorry, every time I type soon it comes out s00n now for some reason ?). That thing cost Tesla a fortune and you don't spend that kind of $$$$$$$$$ if you're not planning on using it.

I don't doubt that they are committed to failure. Smart people aren't immune from the sunk cost fallacy, even those who tout the importance of understanding our cognitive biases.

They plan to start production in 2023. The 2024 date given is just incase of more battery delays. Or nuclear war.

The model Y started production early.
