I am a ‘soft cancel’ having changed to the dual motor.

I can afford the price increase and I think the R1T/R1S are probably worth it BUT I cannot justify that much money for any vehicle. I probably never belonged on this forum as so many folks here have deep pockets and are willing to spend it. Which is why the price hike shock will have very little effect on Rivian’s success.

With my configuration changes I am at $68k. If that holds (huge if) and the charging rate improves plus battery upgrade then maybe there is a silver lining.

BTW Rivian was my primary but is now a bottom of the list backup because I believe Laura Schwab was fired for speaking up about the pricing prior to the IPO.

I find it interesting that folks are convinced the R1S offers exactly what they need when Rivian can’t provide even the most basic details about how the second row operates.

i haven’t seen any Canadian folks posting their new pricing (sorry if you already did and I missed it).

Was the impact for you on the same scale as in the US?
Yes. Old price on the left. New on the right. identical option & accessory configuration.
pretty much every option selected except for the tent and other roof rack accessories.

I am very on the fence.

Concerns:
- Mobile service requires trusting them to be there when it matters
- Integrated software requires trusting them not to nickel and dime on membership fees
- Financially I do OK but all the inflation has already caused me to postpone some big projects like a solar install.
- The economy hangs by a thread. Squirreling away a bit more for a rainy day seems prudent in times like this.
- I am tired of paying all these ridiculous inflation prices when much of it is pandemic profiteering.

Pros
- I mean, LOOK AT THAT TRUCK, LOOK AT IT!

Still in for the R1T LE Green but dropped the $3100 tent, $2000 Forest Edge interior, $2000 off-road upgrade and $500 rooftop bike mounts.

That makes my 'new', lesser equipped R1T _only_ $5000 more than it was on Monday.

Still getting all the performance, range and drive modes just jettisoning the now pricey extraneous and overpriced crap - that I never really needed.

Haven't decided what do do with my Max battery pre-order yet. Maybe a dual motor Max pack will be well over 400 miles of range in ... 2024??

I’m pretty sure I’m still in.

Price increases suck, but business is business and the world has had a few hiccups & change in the last few years that have impacted everyone.

I don’t think they handled the price adjustment well, and I won’t defend how long they waited to communicate it, but I’m not surprised.

I posted this a long time ago, and back then, before the supply chain and inflation woes, I think many people agreed the R1S was a good to great value. Compared to MSRPs and selling prices of luxury performance SUVs it’s no longer as good of a relative value, but it’s not bad IMO.

7 seat EV shipping (theoretically) in 2022. I don't know how the second row works, but I know how falcon wing doors do... err don't and I want no part of that. It's quite frankly that simple in my case.

Also as @lostpacket captured so well

I changed my config to the dual motor R1S and the long range pack to get to a price of ~$82k, albeit with a delivery date of 2024.
So in the meantime, I'll be taking long hard looks at the BMW iX, Genesis GV80, VW Buzz, and any other SUV/minibus/people carrier with a 300mile plus range that comes out before then. At this point the Buzz looks like the likely option, but time will tell - apparently I've got two years now - I can only assume something will pop up by then!

Well, I was in for one LE and one non-LE. One was going to be T and the other S. Now, I’m not so sure I will pick up both. I think I will push as long as possible and require that I see the R1S in person since that’s the one I most likely will keep.

Yep. The new pricing is a hike indeed. Prior the change, my old config was about $87k, the new version shot it up to $109k (mind you, I went for most of the big whistles - Quad motor, Max pack, Limestone/Green interior, auto tonneau, 20" tires with full sized spare, Adventure trim, under body shielding, etc, etc, etc).

I did go for a soft reconfig doing just the Silver/Black, 21" tires with full sized spare, dual motor trim, under body shield, Large battery pack, manual tonneau and recalled a similar spec prior the hike (which was about $79k). This version came out to just under $85k after the price hike/changes.

I am sorry but peeps that are still in are missing the point. It is not about justifying the price increase in any way. It is now about lack of trust. Does one lie not begat another and another? They lied to us. They should give all preorders the price that was promised. Go ahead and raise the price for new orders. I feel betrayed to the max. All the hype of being a different type of company. RJ will pay for this somehow someday. What in the world is AWD compared to 4WD? I did not sign up for that. I agreed to the 4 motor 4WD vehicle. This smells like desperation to me. Maybe Amazon flexed it’s muscle and they are making the vans a huge priority by getting rid of some deposit holders.Or they have more serious issues. How can you ever trust this company again? JB

I’m not gonna argue details of the actual issue (that’s been covered in depth in just about every other thread at this point)

I can’t speak for everyone else who’s still planning on completing their purchase, but for me, I don’t see how it helps anyone for me to cancel my order. I don’t trust or distrust Rivian any more or less than I do any other corporation. But I like the product, and I plan on completing my purchase of the product

if the equation total value = benefits - costs is still positive for you then you'll likely stay in.

seems like for a good chunk of folks its negative. and another good chunk are sitting right at zero and debating whether to sign out or see if it tilts back to positive.

Yep, I’m a solid zero. I don’t NEED this vehicle, but I sure did want it. I am concerned that Rivian is in deep trouble, that is why I will probably only convert one order then sell it when my Silverado EV comes in. Who knows, maybe there will be a 300+ mile Jeep Wrangler in the near future.

I don’t need the second or third row. Been looking for a true EV SUV that can replace my Jeep GC so we have room for the pups when we travel. This is still the only vehicle out there for what we are looking for.
