I find it amazing that the CCS port monstrosity even made it into the wild to this extent. NACS is so far advanced in terms of compactness and ease of use. Hate Tesla as much as you want, but I'll give it to them hands down for sticking to their guns on NACS and not giving in to CCS during their early days.
Agreed. So cumbersome

The J1772 AC charging connector (round) predates Tesla by at least 7-8 years. Since the original J1772 standard did not support DC, the additional DC pins were added so that there were no backwards compatibility issues/dangers trying to put DC on existing pins, opening the door for damage to existing vehicles. Tesla had the benefit of learning from the J1772 evolution when designing their proprietary connector.

This has been the subject of many many posts and discussions. A google search of "does the NACS adapter work with level 2 charging" is easier and more effective than a RivianForums post.

Gee , what a grump. I’ve actually found this thread educational even beyond the original question. But thanks for helping educate fellow owners.

In non-technical terms, trying to connect a 240V Alternating Current power source (aka L2 charging) to a 400V Direct Current battery results in things that would be sparky, burny, and explodey.

While I'm sure some level of engineering investment could come up with a solution, it probably wouldn't score high enough on the value for money scale to be worth it.

I prefer the term curmudgeon. And yes, the thread did emerge as really educational, good point.

Anyone know why NACS adapter does not work on L2 Tesla chargers?
I've tried it with Tesla destination chargers and with friends home chargers.
Both result in a message on the Rivian dashboard indicating it's not supported with this charger.
A NACS adapter is for DC fast charging. L2 destination and home chargers are for AC charging….be an educated consumer….

I like to think this forum is one way we can help to keep each other educated. Based on his question it seems he knows the why.

If you were being sarcastic, apologies I took wrong way.

Crazy times here in the US, best we try to help and support each other judgement free (gets off soap box).
