Will our configs be locked now?

I don't know about other states but here in Massachusetts if you get pulled over and your registration doesn't match your license that will trigger a red flag. They will ask you why and if you have moved to Mass you need to re-register your car here. Although now that I think about it, I suppose you still get around the sales tax then..

I believe the workaround is to register the vehicle under a business (LLCs are cheap) that is operating out of another state. People drive company cars, all the time.

Hi all, I kinda lucked out in all of this. I placed an order in January delivering in god-knows-when for the R1T. I did a similar thing when I bought the Tesla, ordering well after the initial rush not wanting one of the first off the line and having some time for real world data to be available before I had to decide whether to actually buy or not. I didn't cancel on the price increase news, because I had plenty of time to let it all shake out and decide.

So I'm counting myself lucky to essentially get 2018 pricing on a 2024 (or whatever) vehicle. So I don't expect to get a call from a guide or anything but an email once they figure out the backend of the rollback where I can continue to play with my configuration. So just letting everyone know that I appreciate and agreed with all the outrage of the early supporters that forced Rivian to rescind. I owe you all a beer!

Same situation. I pre-ordered in Jan along with the F150, Hummer, and CyberTruck. Honestly, now that I know I'm going to be getting a massive discount (unless they change their mind), the odds of me owning a Rivian are way higher than they were last week. Monday I was a "maybe," Tuesday after the news I was a "probably not" and today I think I'm a "probably" going to own.

And RVs and luxury cars in MT. I once heard there are more luxury cars and RVs registered in MT than there are residents of the state. 0% sales tax, and a whole sub-industry of attorneys willing to set up an obfuscated LLC for you for less than $500.

I'm pretty sure they still resolve civil matters with fire arms in Montana so this gives the lawyers something to do.

I hope Rivian look at this as a race against inflation to ramp up faster.

I'm assuming they are already in the race of their lives with 7000+ employees to pay each week and stiff competition breathing down their neck inflation is just one more thing to contend.
Also if your invisible therapist is talking to you I advise visiting one others can see and hear as well.
Couldn't resist that was my main take away from you earlier post!

I’m in this situation as well. Before I cancelled, I had an LE R1S configured. I kept my LE configured because if you changed from LE edition the option would be gone…however in my mind I was still undecided about R1T AND R1S.

I think what they should do is revert to old pricing and give people a month or two to lock in….then any future changes could be at new prices.

I've thought about the same thing. Sure would be nice if Rivian would release a R1S for video press reviews at this point. I'd like to see the cargo area. I would like to see where the spare tires is. I would like to see where the air compressor is. I would like to see how easy (or how invisible) the 3rd row is folded down. And the 2nd row. I would like to see if there is a Gear Guard similar to the truck. I would like to see cargo area power outlets. I would like to see if the R1S has nifty storage areas internally.
