I'm holding off 6 months for PPF per my colleague's recommendation who also is a detailer who's adamant that PPF not be applied until the factory paint is *fully cured* no earlier than 6 months.
I'm joining the calling BS Bandwagon.

BOTH PPF installers I've used wanted the car driven straight to their shop from the dealership.

Why? Because 1- much less likely to come with preexisting damage from DRIVING IT. 2- No need for paint correction at that point.

In the 3 days it took me to get to the detailer with my R1T, I'd already picked up a nice rock chip gouge in my front 'grille' area (in addition to the blemish that was on it from delivery).

Every vehicle should have paint correction before PPF, even from the factory.

Of course they did. Their prime objective is selling it.

I put 100 miles/day on my R1S so I'm sure I'll have a chip or two in six months, but I'd rather have a touch-up or two rather than the entire paint looking less than glossy in 4-5 years.

Two completely different shops with 2 different reputations. If it was just a one-off, I'd wear the tinfoil hat. The shop I work with does all the high end vehicles in our area--stuff most of us couldn't imagine owning. I'm 100% certain they're not just selling to sell. 1- they don't need to and 2-their reputation is more important to them. I frequently speak directly with the owner; he's an awesome guy.

Not everyone is out to capitalize on suckers. I'm sorry that's your expectation and experience in the world, but I like to think most people are genuinely good and honest, despite the few loud examples to the contrary.

Like I said, it's not my area of expertise, so I'm taking the recommendation from a colleague who used to be a professional detailer and has ZERO vested interest in selling me anything. That's good enough for me.

I thought it was relevant to this topic, so I passed it on. Take it for what it's worth.

i think he's right about giving paint time to cure BUT you have to weigh that against the potential damage to the actual paint for not having it wrapped in the first place. having said that, i've yet to see any evidence that PPFing a car with a paint job not older than 6 months actually produces subpar results. we would need a side by side comparison with the same color paint job on 2 cars- 1 PPF'd from the getgo and another not - at 6 months to see if there is any different in gloss or color.

My quick googling suggests (granted, most sources are from detailers) that 30 days is the sweet spot.

So, how long do you think it has been since your car body was first dipped? From that point until you took delivery was probably pretty close to 30 days already, even best case. I think we good.

I had my Tesla model 3 wrapped immidiately after delivery. Zero issues and glad I didn't Risk damage and chips while letting it "cure". I'm getting my R1s wrapped the day after delivery.
Loving the pic of the Cirrus in your Avatar... Would love a SR22T G6 if all goes well, although will settle gladly for an SR22 if need be... :like:

As you mentioned there's no need to wait at all, do it right away from pick up. 80% of our clients do it this way and get full coverage, all windows tinted and many now doing painted emblems and chrome delete... Also correct if doing a full coverage polishing is near never needed.
