Took my gen1 R1S to Safelite today to get a chip in my windshield repaired - while they were repairing the chip I noticed, they found another one (I swear Rivian glass is made out of eggshell) - however the second one was up in the middle center of the windshield, above the camera but in the black part. The tech told me that even though the chip was tiny, they couldn't repair it because it was so close to the camera.

I'm wondering if there is anything I can do - I really don't want to just wait for this tiny chip to turn into a full windshield replacement.

As always, thanks for any advice!

If it’s in the non-usable part of the windshield and you are only worried about it getting worse I’d get a well reviewed kit from Amazon and do it yourself to minimize the chance of spreading.

Perhaps you may want to add glass coverage to your insurance.
Here in Colorado we have already had new chips in two windshields in the last month and both cars have intelligent glass (expensive to replace)
Coverage takes the pain out of the chip !

Yeah, I've got glass coverage - just hate replacing things that I can potentially save for a while longer.

Thanks for the advice! Think I'll grab one of those amazon kits and see how much longer I can make this one last.
