No. Reservations are not transferrable. For R1 reservations, some transfers did happen, but only between spouses or (more rare) between immediate relatives.Does anyone know if it’s possible to transfer a reservation to another person? Has this been confirmed? I’m not looking to sell it, just looking to transfer one of my R2 reservations to a friend.
Each person has access to a wealth of information at their fingertips. Including Rivian’s own chatbot. Service center staff are humans and make mistakes just like any other human—including mistake of not using readily available tools to be informed. Thanks to all for the replies. I thought Rivian's policy was that reservations are not transferable, but a Service Center representative told me earlier this year that they are. It was wishful thinking on my part, but they must have been mistaken as evidenced by the language in Rivian‘s policy disclosures.
I spoke with a Rivian rep at the Venice Block Party about this issue. He advised that it may be possible, however the delivery location and Zip Code are important. They do not want a person who made the reservation to become a broker. I would call them and see if they have any new information.Does anyone know if it’s possible to transfer a reservation to another person? Has this been confirmed? Yeah, I used the Chatbot too. It confirms that there is no ability to transfer reservations, but stated that there is no restriction on reselling the vehicle immediately after taking delivery. I don’t feel like going through the paperwork to go that route, but maybe I will if my friend is serious about taking “delivery” of the vehicle so to speak. On the day of the R2 unveiling I reserved five. One I thought my wife would take, but she’s not ready to let go of her current vehicle yet, and the rest I figured other family members and friends would come around and want them by the time the R2 went into production. Each person has access to a wealth of information at their fingertips. thanks, I’ll give them a ring since the two folks that want to take my reservations are my sister-in-law and close friend, both of them live within 25 miles of me. Maybe this will work out after all. I suspect no. Why would your friend get to go ahead of us?Does anyone know if it’s possible to transfer a reservation to another person? Has this been confirmed? I’m not looking to sell it, just looking to transfer one of my R2 reservations to a friend.
Eric, in a way, I agree, and have been wrestling with that very thought. I sort of feel bad about using my reservations for people who didn't make one for themselves. However, I did have the foresight to make the reservation within the first five minutes of Rivian opening the reservation queue. In the end, if it's transferable, is it any different to you than if I use the reservation for myself or my wife as originally planned? Also, there are plenty of people who are going to jump you in line because they are legacy R1 owners, which I also am. I made the reservations to create flexibility for me, my family members, and possibly a friend after experiencing a 2.5-year wait for my 2022 R1T from time of reservation to when they went into production.I suspect no. Why would your friend get to go ahead of us?
