What car is this?
LOL, looks like some custom R1/R2 car. Someone is pretending to be the first to have been able to order the R2...

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
why paint colors so expensive ? $2000
in BMW IX3 most of the colors are $600
I said the same thing. The vehicle is smaller than the R1S and has front and rear bumpers that are painted dark gray for easier repairs, also the entire roof is glass with no bar across the middle, so even less paint used. I envision a lot of Esker Silver R2s driving around in the next few years, just like all of the black, white, and dark gray Teslas, the colors of which were all the default over the years.

Maybe they were just trying to price things below a comparable wrap? I’ve heard with professional installation those can cost around $6,000. Or maybe the cost pays for the paint shop or additional colors down the road? Who knows? I want to see some warmer and/or brighter options.

$60,000 for a Premium with Forest Green paint, Coastal Cloud Interior, Tow Package and Autonomy+

Pricey.... Same config (assuming base wheels) with the launch edition is a hair under $61,000. Might as well try to get a LE I guess.

Maybe they did that on purpose? Make sure it has LiDar and new RAP-1 chip, if you care about that.

Looks like I'll be waiting for a little while, because I want Borealis paint and the light interior. I've waited 2 years, I can wait another 8 months to get the R2 I want.
Absolutely. I think they’ll still be selling the LE in late 2026. That’s money Rivian would be leaving on the table if they didn’t keep offering the higher trim. Unless in 2027 they strip out the options that you get on the LE and keep the price the same. They need to let customers know their game plan, especially toward the end of the year. This would increase sales for them as well.

LE isn't just a higher trim. It's a Performance with a bunch of included add one and an exclusive color. It's cheaper than if you got a Performance and added the extras.

I don't think so. They'll stop the LE trim once the premium trim becomes available which is late 2026.

So no Performance Trim, or take the LE and strip everything out for the same price? This seems too bait and switchy to me. Rivian already has had issues with pissing customers off with pricing in the past. They need this vehicle to succeed and if people are willing to pay for the highest trim then let them. I don’t think they’re going to have a problem selling these. It simplifies production as well.

LE will eventually be replaced with a Performance Trim without Autonomy+ (which is ironic, because it will be better equipped to utilize it) and some other features sometime in 2027.

Love that it is here, but again, not surprised. Things are very much as expected. They are just using the Tesla playbook at this point.

I figured launch green would be $2k so things are as expected for me. Hopefully the wait for deliveries is not much longer after June rolls around.

Overall, I like the package and what it has to offer. Excited to test drive one. The Launch package actually makes this a steal, specially if Autonomy+ sees major improvements and point to point that is solid. The tow package is a nice bonus.

As for the color prices...yeah, it's a lot, but as we keep beating the dead horse here...most people don't care about color. Esker silver galore. Behold everyone - an army of silver R2s for everybody!

They'll just have the performance trim alongside the premium trim in late 2026. The LE is just the performance trim with extras added on that you can buy separately. Autonomy+, tow hitch, key fob, launch green paint which will just be called rivian green paint later lol.
