(Don’t tell anyone, but I secretly applied to a Rivian job site today with @Craigins first name, “Brice” for my middle name, @kanundrum as my last name, @Longhorngirl and @DuckTruck as a reference, my hobbies included drinking beer with the CEO of Maui brewing Garrett as well as mountain biking with @crashmtb, watching @Pixelshot ’s videos, and purchasing BVD’s from @skyote. @SoCal Rob has supplied me with parts for my failing Rover for the past 3 years, I left off @jimcgov3 as a reference bc I made his head too big once at the blue origin liftoff, I tried to bribe @Administrator with a better looking Home Depot employee, bought vegan Slim Jim’s for @CommodoreAmiga , gave Peashooter the bird on Reddit, bought a Burger King crown for that McDonald’s looking odd-ball girl character, given @Sgt Beavis a hard time marriage-wise, applauded @Diddy123 as a Picasso, booed and cheered on a father and son in my neck of the woods’ YT channel, cheered on Luke and Rivian’s fabulous Make-A-Wish day, and left off many others on purpose.)

Still no vehicle, but I’ve met and made so many funny friends here that I can give crap to and laugh w/…it’s all good!

I've been having the same feels as you. I see people posting that they wouldn't post their delivery when they get it. That's the first thing I'd do, I'd want to share it with everyone on the forums.

But as the delivery dates get closer, I start to realize that there will be hundreds of posts about deliveries before mine, which leads me to wonder about the future of the forums. I've really enjoyed all the time spent on here, and imagining things going away after everyone gets their vehicle is a little sad.

I guess things could shift to service centers and the RAN, instead of the actual vehicles.

Nah, I’m guessing folks will post eventually, and it will be fun to see everyone’s ugly mugs and much better looking Riv’s!! I’m sure there will be something to commiserate about but I’m betting on a wide variety of photos from Target to the Tetons!

I've really enjoyed all the time spent on here, and imagining things going away after everyone gets their vehicle is a little sad.

We may not visit as frequently but I suspect we will still be the main source of information for each other on what, where and how. Initially we may tell each other how to enjoy the toy but as our R1S/R1Ts get older and problems start to creep in, we will be back to bond over new kinds of complaints.

vehicle specific forums never die. I use Land Rover ones all the time, and for every other car I’ve had. Great information sources. . Heck I’ve been on vwvortex for 18 years and have never posted in any of the VW sections...or owned a VW ?

I don’t think there is anything to worry about regarding this forum. I currently drive a Tacoma (my first Tacoma) and when I was thinking about buying it, I found the online Tacoma focused forum(s), which had been around for a LONG time before I got there. People with older models discussing mods and repairs and people with newer models arguing with the owners of the older models about the pros and cons of each generation of Tacoma.

Honestly, it reminds me a bunch of this forum. Just a bunch of smart and funny and sometimes annoying people with one thing in common - their love (or hate) for their trucks. This forum reminds me of the discussions there every time leading up to a future Tacoma being released. The knowns and unknowns, the complaints about lack of information, and the arguments about specific features Toyota either included or excluded.

Even though I have been driving mine for over 3 years I still go back there frequently to see what everyone is talking about and especially if I’m looking at buying one of the many aftermarket products for my truck - chances are someone else has already written a thorough review and DIY instructional about anything I am considering. I know I will do the same thing with this forum after I get my R1T as well.

Oh, the discussions about ”When?” will become less of a focus but topics about actually driving Rivians and using features will probably be all over the place. For folks with the camp kitchen I can see induction cooking recipe Q&A, which may be a first on a truck forum discussing factory equipment.

Not on cleanings, but I do offer free extractions for forum members using my tow hooks.

It’s getting ridiculous. I don’t care that early employees got the first vehicles and I am not even close to as early a reservation holder as so many of you guys here - but now people who were hired 6 months ago are getting trucks ahead of people waiting for years?

This is terrible for customer relations and should be a PR nightmare, but not enough automotive or mainstream journalists seem to want to shine a light on it.

It looks like Rivian does not have a significant supply/manufacturing issue that is preventing them from delivering trucks, if they can pump out vehicles with a 6-month turnaround. So, their motive at this point is very suspect, personally it feels like they are doing this to pad their numbers for investor confidence more than anything. Employees with financial incentives will be guaranteed deliveries, compared to real world customers who can reject a delivery or cancel a pre-order.

Curious, has any of you shareholders from this forum thought about asking this question in the next investor call?

Why are Rivian employees getting trucks with a 6-month turnaround when pre-orders holders have been waiting for almost 4 years?
What is their numbers split by 'employees' vs 'third party' customer deliveries?

I am sure Rivian would give some marketing/PR BS, but should bring this up to light (?)

I think most people could objectively see the benefit of employees getting first deliveries to work out manufacturing kinks and reward loyalty, but it's starting to turn the corner into very questionable judgment when people who have 3 year reservations are having their delivery date slip (again) while employees of less than a year are getting them.

I've been pretty forgiving with them so far and some of the decisions around delivery, but this is not a good look and I do think questions should be asked at the next shareholder meeting to address this.

Same here in Charleston. I've heard rumors of one in the area but it's not an area I'm in frequently, but it's sort of a statement unto itself that my best chance of interacting with a Rivian is a chance encounter on the road or in a parking lot.

The optics of employee deliveries are made worse by what has been, essentially, radio silence from Rivian for nearly 2 full months now regarding events, product updates, and production updates that were all said to be ready "early" in 2022.

It’s far more likely that they have x amount of trucks earmarked for the employee program. And that’s been part of the production scheduling all along.

Feels like everything they manufacture is earmarked for employees, which begs the question, what is “x” ?
