Help…been reading and watching lots of videos! Thanks to all of you who so actively troubleshoot and find new things for us to do with our rivians!

having said that I got my comma 4 installed and it’s been great. I did get the fuse tap from Lukas and using comma harness till the new angle one comes. Already pre ordered! And loving it.

then the last two days it’s been stuck in park and I have to hard reset the whole vehicle to drive it. Then it all works fine. No warnings or anything just won’t get into gear at all. What should I do or can I do?

thanks

If you still get that symptom, for me it was a crimped USB-C cable from Comma. It's too fragile IMO.
I also had a ton of other warnings pop up in addition to the stuck in park symptom, but they're all gone now. Just the occasional camera malfunction on the unit itself which I may look to get replaced under warranty.

I actually have the same issue. I was wondering if you were able to solve it. I have the Comma 4 with Lukas Long upgrade w/ fuse tap and Janka's mount. For some reason, I now need to hard reboot my R1T every time I park at home! Also, it wasn't like this before and only recently started happening. Interesting thing is it is only when I park at home too.

Also, wanted to thank Gerry since he's on this thread. Your videos helped immensely!

Thank you! I'm glad the videos helped.

That is SUPER weird that it only happens when you park at home. I wonder if it's more about the length of time that it's parked rather than the location?

Does it happen if you park at home but are only parked for a few minutes, or only overnight?

Either way, a quick and easy thing to test is to get a new USB-C 3.1 or 3.2 cable and see if that resolves the issue. A lot of times these issues come down to a bad cable, but the fact that it only happens at home throws a weird wrinkle into this one.

From what I've noticed even parking for 1 hour at home will cause it to happen. Where if I am outside or am at my office for hours it will work just fine. I am rereading through the instructions and I just noticed that there is a special instruction to replace the 20 amp fuse that Lukas tap comes with using the 10-amp fuse that is being replace on the F33 slot. I don't think I did this nor am I sure how to do this? Could this possibly be the reason why? Still odd that it only happens at home though....

I can't imagine that being the reason and, like you said, wouldn't explain why it only happens at home and nowhere else. Are you charging at home when this happens? IF so that *may* be related to using the wrong fuse.

My issue was resolved once I cut the power and moved the fuse tap to the newly recommended spot!
Sounds like you got it fixed! That's awesome! My R1T is due for a tech refresh and the new comma 4 seems like the move to make. Any recommendations? I saw mentions of a new fuse something and the Longitudinal Upgrade kit? Do I still need the upgrade kit with the comma 4? Any help is much appreciated :)

Edit: I did watch @gerrylum's video and have the guide! Explains a lot there but the big question is how do I not tap into the wrong fuse box.

I experimented with a few things over the past day and noticed a pattern. Whenever I couldn’t shift out of park, the Comma system wasn’t powered on. After performing a hard reboot of the R1T, the Comma would come online and shifting would work again. That led me to suspect the issue might be related to the Comma 4 and the truck booting up at the same time. Furthermore, the reason it would only happen at home is because the vehicle seems to enter sleep mode quickly when parked at home. I decided to revisit the setup and noticed that I was tapped into fuse F34. I switched the power source to F33 and replaced the Lukas 20-amp fuse accordingly. After restarting the vehicle, it immediately shifted out of park without issue. My current assumption is that using F34 may be causing a communication problem within the R1T. Hopefully it is fixed if not I'll continue playing around with it.

I am not the most technically competent person around. I was able to install the Comma 4 with little issue from watching @gerrylum videos. I bought the Lukas long and Janka mount as recommended by Gerry and the process was not to technically difficult. What absolutely sucked was trying to get it plugged back into the AXM. The location is in a blind corner in the back. I think that took me about 40 minutes to finally get it connected.

If you are considering everything I would wait a little longer for the new angle based steering upgrade to come out from Lukas. You could install the comma 4 now, but I would just wait to do everything together since it was such a PITA for me to connect the AXM
