That's an interesting question. I wonder if the Performance trim's lack of the alternate custom interior is tied to the early launch package? Once that's over I would suspect the extra colors and interior will be unlocked. I think it makes sense that ramping up production will influence when option changes happen.
I'm hoping that since some colors and the light interior option are not available at first that it will allow me and others with later reservations to still get a R2 sometime this year as I want a LE with its limited options.

I think those who want LE and are okay with black interior and the colors available now could potentially get theirs this year. I'd imagine most of the line is likely waiting for the premium or the standard.

If I weren't so impatient, I'd probably aim for the premium myself but can't ignore the value on the LE.

I hope so. I'm July 25 so I'm not near the front but I'd be super stoked to get one this year. I'm all for the Launch Edition with the black interior.

I would bet Rivian is intensely interested in how they can make the largest number of people happy on this front.

No matter what they do, there are going to be unhappy people that blame Rivian and not their own self-centered unreasonable demands. I'm hoping I won't have any trouble getting a gen 3 R2 without having to order it too soon (current car paid off is my goal).

For all those is the central Florida area, they confirmed demo drives and pickup of R2 at the Orlando service center. Like Virgil I am hoping they will have Premium for demo drive early on, but somehow I doubt they will.

I doubt there are any differences that will be noticeable about the driving experience. Maybe the suspension will be a bit different, but I'm more interested in the overall driving feel, and the size of the interior. (I'm rather tall.) Not so much the difference in zoom.

I really hope that will be the case as I need to stop subjecting my Golf R to winters 😅

I’m 6’5”, more leg than torso a bit (inseam 36-37’) and I felt fine in the drivers seat, seat was NOT all the way back, had ~ 4” headroom still (short time in seat so didn’t complexly measure other than hand sideways) armrest placement was comfy, not too low, center console same (very much like my M3).Drivers console was also easily viewable from eye position (often top of steering wheel will block gauge console) and even when I got into the rear with seat in same position, it was fine (little bit of leg spread), but when SO had set the drivers seat I had at LEAST 5” between knees and back of seat.

Headroom in rear seats was the same or better..

Overall, for ME at least - not an issue. Felt very much like my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but even more room in the backseat.

2 to 6 weeks from ordering.......

June 9 is the day. Order invitations start going out, demo drives begin and the first R2s start arriving in driveways across America. We can’t wait for you to experience the vehicle we’ve poured so much of our hearts into.

Thank you! I REALLY wanted Borealis, but I'm wrapping the R2 anyways so I can still get my purple.

loud and clear --- Not in your driveway!!
Lol exactly. No one on here is getting an R2 or order invite before June 9th. How you going to get an R2 10 days from now if you haven't even ordered one :CWL:

The 2-6 week delivery window—does that start from my invite or my order?
Once your order is confirmed, you can expect to take delivery within 2-6 weeks.
We will reach out directly to complete the process and schedule your delivery.

Gonna be a free for all on June 9th, as you can’t start booking demo drives until then as per the Rivian AI chatbot I just corresponded with.
