Crazy all the noise around AA/CP, if you need it and it doesn’t have it move on. Regardless of the strategy if it got to a point that it impacted sales they would add it. Does not seem to be the case currently for Rivian or Tesla.

The most underrated part of CarPlay: every car I get into instantly has all my music, my calendar, my apps, my maps, my favorites, etc….

Ever get a rental car without CarPlay? It’s torture.

It's totally irrelevant for the majority of people. It's even less important than understanding that range anxiety isn't really a thing either.

No. Not trolls. Just people who like physical controls for certain things.

I'm not a "no touchscreens, all physical controls" person. I even think the screen-control-only HVAC vents are "fine" since they now save positions with profiles so you can easily switch between modes.

But when different media sources have such different volume levels that one is good at volume 4 on city streets while another needs to be at 23 on the freeway to be audible, switching back to that one that's "good at 4" needs a *FAST* way to reduce volume. Tap-tap-tap-tap just doesn't do it. Even the scroll wheel is still a bit slow, since it isn't a true analog control.

Small clarification; digital controls do not *have* to have perceptible latency.

Lack of CarPlay is why I didn't buy a Rivian. Lack of CarPlay is why I won't buy any Rivian's the the future.

What a weird, bold face lie (CarPlay does not need to take over every pixel and often runs within a window).

I like driving performance over a stupid screen any day. Should we have choice, maybe if it doesn't slow down the head unit. All my cars with carplay/auto have terrible responsiveness.

Not one passenger has ever complained about functionality. My only gripe was voice text which has now been taking care of.

I have been converted to the touchscreen controls for vents with the 2 settings. 2 easy touch and air is on me for hot days or in surround for mild days. Had to fiddle with my manual vent car and couldn't get it just right lol.

The defensiveness of some people in here is a bit strange. All this “stop talking about AA/ACP,” energy, when you all can stop entering the threads just as easily. Stan culture is weird. Don’t make an automotive manufacturer your identity. None of you are jumping the R2 line based on how well you defend controversial design decisions in this thread.

Rivian can’t even make a proper Apple Music client, how can they be expected to make an AI system to operate it or my text messages.

I wouldn’t call it defensiveness. I would like CarPlay but I bought the car knowing it wasn’t there and wouldn’t be added. And that’s pretty much that.

What I find odd is this must be the 100th thread about it. There is nothing new. There is no new feature of CarPlay to discuss. There is no change to rivian’s position. It has been made clear 99 previous times that people want CarPlay. I just find it odd that people need to rehash the same thing over and over and over again. I guess I don’t get it and I say that as someone who would prefer CarPlay. Nearly any thread about the in car tech devolves into a discussion of either CarPlay or physical buttons. People bought a computer on wheels and then lament it doesn’t have a volume knob. I just find it all very odd.

Strongly thinking of canceling my reservation purely because of what this a-hole silicon valley "exec" keeps saying. I don't really need carplay as long as they bring youtube music eventually. I just feel bad about giving money to a company that allows people like this publicly

As someone who vehemently argued that Rivian needs to allow AA/CP, I now wish all these posts would just go away. If you want AA/CP, get an EVPlay. The EVPlay is probably a better implementation than Rivian would do anyway.
