R1T with Ocean Coast - similar to Coastal Cloud. After almost 3 years its held up beautifully. No permanent stains. Some expected wrinkles but bot cracks. I do take care of it. Clean it and treat it about once every 2 months.
We don't exactly what the difference is between the R1 and R2 but from my understanding is the same material. I wouldn't worry.

I have Ocean Coast on my R1S. We have a Sheppard mix dog, and a toddler and it looks brand new after almost 3 years.
I'm 21mo in and there is noticeable "dirt" on our Ocean Coast interior. Noticeable areas on the arm rests from sunscreened arms (we boat a lot in the summer). Drivers seat is noticeably "blued" from wearing denim all the time (my go to pants material during the week). It clean relatively easy though, so it only looks bad if you don't clean it. I clean mine about once a month and it looks great for a few days, then looks dingy again.

I won't have a light interior again. I'm too lazy to keep it looking nice, and a 50lb lab mix with 2 boys (14 and 8) don't help me keep it clean either.

Thanks but no thanks! I don’t want to waste my time watching a video when a sentence and may be a picture would do
I've got mah radio, I don't need to waste time with the "talkies"

Why make such a point of going out of your way to be a jerk? Carsly posted something he created to try and be helpful to the OP. Without even looking at it, you disparage the attempt. If the OP isn't interested that is obviously fine, but why chime in with negativity about something you admittedly know absolutely nothing about.

It was a simple question which plenty of people already answered OP. I just doesn't think it needed another video to explain. I didn't click to view video because I thought it was click bait. That's just my opinion. I know more than enough in this subject owning plenty of white interior in my time, in addition to an R1T and an R1S Ocean Coast interior. If you don't like my opinion, feel free to ignore.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
From someone who has had black interiors for a long time now, I miss my light grey 2016 Hyundai Sonata interior. That was so nice looking back now! My R2 will without a doubt have the light grey coastal cloud interior. Black interiors actually show a lot of crap and are so hot inside.
I will second this. Darker interiors are hotter, even with the glass roof covered.

Another plus of a lighter interior is that it makes things seem more open and expansive. That’s why they always suggest painting the walls in your house a lighter color.

I agree you were being difficult, and instead of apologizing for jumping the gun, you doubled down. If you think it's clickbait, either watch it to confirm, keep it to yourself, or be ready to admit you are wrong if it turns out not to be true. You knowing how to take care of it is irrelevant when the video wasn't made for people like you who know. That's like saying "This video is made to show how to change a tire, but I already know how, so it's clickbait" when the video isn't intended to be shown to people who already know how to change tire. OP doesn't know how easy or hard it is to clean. Some people are visual learners, some people need written down explanations, others need video and audio. You are allowed to have an opinion, but when the evidence is literally a video where you know nothing about its content, can easily confirm if it is what you think, and instead you just say, "Clickbait, disregard" weakens your argument, which for more serious topics can be a dangerous thing to do. Your opinion was a conjecture.

2023 R1S OC LA Silver 21 as of 23xxx Nov 3, 2023 !!
Ocean coast 3 years. Love the interior color. I have a little bit of a bluish tint on the outer drivers side of the cusions from blue jean transfer. Not sure how to get it off but will check out the video posted earlier in this thread. Because of that I use a seat protector on the drivers seat.

I chose LA silver with the costal interior to reflect heat. No regrets.

So I've realized I never fully understood this post asking about light color interior. For prospective owners who have never owned a white interior, it is an important question to ask/answer. The video from @carsly is intended to show people how to clean and keep light interior clean. I should have carefully read through the question before jumping to conclusion. Like many other posters on this subject who said white interior is easy to maintain, it is very easy to maintain IMO. If you're thinking of getting it, don't hesitate.

My apologies to @carsly for saying his video was click bait.

no harm done, just trying to help the OP and anyone else considering Rivian’s light interiors. We’re good :)

You do you, both hold up well. Some people think coastal is high end, others think it looks cheap and tacky.

I'm so over black interiors as a Tesla owner for 5+ years now. My wife's sunscreen shows like crazy in it and it's insane to keep clean and also hot af. I'd rather wipe it down and have a little "ignorance is bliss" vs. having it stare at me the entire time bc it's white sunscreen on black (p)leather lol.
I’m leasing a Model 3 and all of those things drive me crazy, too. We don’t have a garage, so I have a glass roof cover and a sunvisor, but the seats still get hot as hell. We also get sunblock on the interior even after waiting 15 minutes to get in the car. I’ve got a giant pack of alcohol wipes in the console and I’m constantly wiping things down.

Even though Coastal Cloud is gray and not white, I’d still like to try a lighter interior and see what it’s like. I don’t think there will be much glare on the windshield, because the steering wheel and upper dashboard are still black or dark gray.

The thing that gets us on the Model 3 is the silver plastic trim on the ambient light bar along the windshield and at a certain time of day the sun catches the edges of our phones on the chargers through the raked windshield and blinds the shit out of us.

Side note. Ocean Coast and Coastal Cloud are definitely NOT white.

Both are a light to medium grey that can appear more whiteish on camera.

Baby wipes work the best that I’ve seen shockingly. Got all sorts of leather and interior cleaner and none of it gets mineral sunscreen out even with a microfiber cloth. I’ve had a light grey interior before years ago on my Hyundai Sonata. Wasn’t an issue at all. Definitely don’t want bright white like Tesla has. Coastal cloud will be great I have no doubt.
