Incoming text messages not showing up

All my texts with iPhones work flawlessly. But with Android I can only send, not receive. This must be a bug somewhere in the Rivian software

I was hoping the recent RA software update would fix my text messaging issue, but I am still not receiving incoming texts in my R1S. I have rechecked all phone and vehicle settings to make sure they are correct. Is anyone else still not receiving text messages?

Same here. Toggling on and off, reconnecting, nothing fixes it. Super frustrating.

I’m not an Android user but I experienced this with my iPhone. Check the Bluetooth connection on your phone to ensure “Rivian audio” has messages enabled.

I totally forgot this is a feature now.

But like OP, mine has never worked since the update a while back. And I've tried and looked at every setting.

Fortunately, it isn't very important to me.

The next time you receive a text message on your phone, or have someone send you a test, don’t read it, instead ask Rivian Assistant to read your unread messages. Have you tried this yet?

That worked! I heard my phone ding with an incoming message and I asked "hey Rivian" to read it to me. Sure enough, it read it and offerred to send a reply. Still don't quite understand why Rivian doesn't alert when there's an incoming text but now at least I have a way to hear the message as long as I notice the "ding" from the phone.

OK, great so this confirms messages are being received in the vehicle. I believe the lack of notification is due to the low volume for Rivian Assistant notifications.

1. Tap the Speaker Icon: Tap the speaker/volume icon on the main bar of your center display to bring up the standard volume slider.
2. Expand the Menu: Tap the source icon located at the very top of that volume slider.
3. Adjust Your Settings: A multi-layered menu will drop down, allowing you to individually view and adjust the sliders for Music, Phone, Navigation, and the Rivian Assistant. Turn the volume up on Rivian Assistant. Test sending a text message and you should hear a chime when the message is received.

Also, there is a popup notification that appears on the center screen in front of you when a text message is received however it’s very brief. If you run the same test again and keep your eye on the screen, you may see it.

When you say "everything turned on as shown" does it look like the photo below when you go into the bluetooth settings for your vehicle on your phone? I have a pixel 10 and am not having any trouble with this. Additionally, there are some settings in Rivian Assistant in the car itself to turn on notification sounds, have you played with those?

I’m having an issue which I haven’t seen anyone else complain about. My sent texts have one thread and my received texts have another. This is per contact that I text. I’ve tried everything to rectify, but no luck. Assuming it’s a bug with iOS 27 and Rivian comms
