I would avoid making any changes to your actual configuration until we hear something directly from Rivian about what the increase actually means. It could be a situation where preorders still pay less than what we see now.

Everything went up including wheel choice, paint colors, spare tire. Even Ocean Coast interior is now +$2k. I'm out. So long guys. Config went from $76,800 to $95,900 (up 25%). I'll take my $1000 back before this company folds.

Those that stick around may get their R1 much earlier than their windows. I wish Rivian best of luck but I will be getting rid of my shares on the next bump up as well.

Guess we got our answer. Rivian was just a massive cash grab. The founders got theirs, went public, will cash out (some already did) and will leave with no intention of actually selling large amounts of vehicles. No way people are sticking around to pay a 25% price gouge on top of what was promised. The part that really sets me off is that I could have selected a Launch Edition but it was within my price range to pay $10k for the max pack. Of course they told us max packs would be produced first at that time. Now I have to pay $6k just for the same quad motor I could have had for free and cannot afford the max pack. Not paying $120k for a truck that was barely over $90k yesterday
I'm with you on being upset but there's lots of wrong here.
  1. The quad motor and large pack price hikes apply to LE holders too, they're just priced into the LE base (which is now $85k instead of $73k). You didn't miss out on any free anything.
  2. Since the beginning of the configurator is has been clear that Large packs would be produced first. There was no time where it was possible to select a Max pack where it wasn't also clear that it opted you out of the LE priority.
  3. Your theory is that the founders are going to intentionally tank their stock with a price hike so they can... sell their stock and exit? mmmkay

They're a public company that needs to be making money by 2024. Pricing has changed on EVERYTHING you buy, so it's only natural Rivian has to adjust as well.

I'm very thankful the LEs don't seem to be affected (typed this before realizing my cost went up 13k, so LE's are affected too), but I was also anticipating this over the last year and a half while watching prices on all consumer goods explode.

Looks like I'm out, F150 lightning it is for me.

I'll wait a bit to cancel just in case the backlash is severe enough they change their minds.

I'm also selling my stock, I dont have faith they can survive this. I would expect preorders to drop by more than 50%. They aren't going to have the orders to support their CapEx in GA.

I got the first call from my Guide today. This email came in from rivian a few minutes ago...

You may have heard that Rivian‘s vehicle and option pricing have increased as a result of price inflation of supplier components and raw materials across the world. Since you are in the final steps of completing your transaction, your Rivian preorder will not be affected by these adjustments.

We’re grateful to you for being an early supporter of Rivian and look forward to getting your new R1T to you soon. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your Guide at any time.
That's good news for you man. Hold them to it.

Yikes, the Camp Kitchen is $6,750 now. It's almost as if they know they can't even build them and they want to make sure nobody buys one. A dual burner induction cooktop that you can plug into your R1T is $160.

They would be going out of their way to explicitly clarify that in the email if that were true. We're all on the hook for the price increase too.

As mentioned in the other thread. I saw this coming, however, not this s00n.
I figured it was coming too, but I didn't see this much of an increase coming. And then also taking options that were previously included and charging for them

My R1S went from $72,500 to $89,025... even by changing to Dual Motors, paint to base silver, and interior to black, it will still cost $79,775 and arrive in 2024.

Glad I just bought an IONIQ 5 last month lol

I'll keep the reservation, but who knows when I'll cash in on it.

Don't let the door hit ya ? Not sure anyone really cares how many people dump their meager share holdings over this or their Adventure/Explore reservations. By the time delivery would come due there'll be plenty of other orders in.

That's like saying "Man, those Rolls Royce's are expensive when I can buy a Civic for 20k". Just because they achieve the same end result doesn't mean they are in any way equivalent products.
