Honestly, when the Ocean debuted I turned up my nose at it, thinking my future Rivian R1S looks so much better and is a much better overall value….

I never thought I would say this, but I just placed my $250 deposit on the Ocean. If they are able to keep the Launch Edition at the same cost as advertised it just makes so much more sense to me. I don’t need the HP, I don’t need the Off-road ability. It’s the right price with the right features (despite its less than desirable appearance).

One more thing. congrats to Fisker for having an ad on the Rivian forum. that's amazing marketing sense b/c I am going to wait for my launch edition Fisker. Hopefully, they will not raise my price. Asta la vista Rivian.

I have confirmation from CS that I am impacted (day 1 LE reservation holder but no guide contact)...it seems like the folks who were in an active "close" process dodged it, but everyone else who didn't get contacted is impacted). Not pleased, but they are doing what they have to do to support margins I am sure.

Can you share when you ordered? I just had a CS conversation and they said I am going to be impacted by the price increase despite being a day 1 11/2018 preorder holder LE.
Very early on day one...initially for a T...changed to a S about two months ago

(Is this even legal? ..f*ck)
Yes, because we all put $1k down for a vehicle with an "estimated" price. It's morally corrupt, but legal.

So if they kept the old pricing for us LE holders can you imagine how much 'flipping for profit' would happen? They'd have to stipulate that you can't sell your spot or your vehicle - tough to enforce. As much as I want to hold out out hope for us LE holders I fear no bueno.

My chat with CS a couple days ago now makes sense. He pretty much guaranteed my May-June timeframe would be met!!

Maybe we'll get the Tank Turn update and ... Free charging - LOL

I am sorry for the earlier rant, I’m just very upset because I’ve been to several Rivian events, The 1st mile event, met senior leadership from the company, and met a lot of great people from this community, and my 4 year old son asks me when we’re going camping in “daddy‘s Rivian” every day, and I don’t know if we will anymore because daddy can’t afford it at this price point.

Honestly feel like crying, I’m sorry guys, I am crushed
Understandably so. It's not easy news to take in. For several it is a push over a line they cannot afford financially. And though in part we understand this was an eventuality, it's still a rough pill to swallow.

He'll at least you got to see one before the bait n switch. They literally couldn't be bothered to show up on the east coast. I want/wanted this company and car to succeed, but now I'm not so sure. It's been nothing but false promises and lies frankly since day 1.

R1T, $16k+ price increase.

Frustrated, but I'll keep my June 2019 reservation deposit in place. Very uncertain market for cars / trucks of any kind. Cheap insurance if things go sideways with my current vehicles or pricing on competitive products.

The probability that I will end up driving a Rivian did go down significantly. Change in value proposition for the R1T, likelihood of additional price increases and impact on viability of Rivian as a company.

I'll also keep my Cybertruck and Lucid reservation deposits in place.

Did you just wake up from a 100 year nap or something?
If I did, then respect your elders, Son! ;)

No, just that the concept is so absurd to me that I tend to ignore when I hear about it.

Ha ha
I just saw this and it is going to be a tough pill to swallow. I have both models on order. The truck for me and the SUV for my wonderful wife. I am having a hard time justifying it. Can I afford it? I knew that it was going to be a different price but if I go to McDonald’s and order a big mac for $5 and then I have been told to wait and buy it for $8. We are going to have a discussion about this .
