Hahahahaha! "Gambling." Serves me right for trying to chat to CS at work, it really is a gamble.

And there goes the stock price. Who here legitimately thinks this will be the last increase before you see yours in your driveway. It was a great looking, well designed truck but the lack of transparency and communication with customers that put down money was the last straw for me. I will wait and buy something when they are ready to "buy and drive"
I don't think anyone is threatening to damage a Rivian...that's absolutely 100% rediculous. My guess is buyers may look like rich scabs for a while. Unfortunately, there will be a Rivian stigma for a bit. Maybe stink eyes by reservation cancelers and people in the know, but doubt anyone is throwing eggs at a truck ?.No threats, just predictions. Humans can be terrible.
I'm still on the fence about staying, and this is definitely a factor in my consideration.
twinsies!
2 years of delays, failed promises to call with production dates by last November, and yesterday an email telling me my 3 yo pre-order now up $ 20k due to inflation. As our production continues to ramp up, we want to share new information that affects your Rivian preorder.
Vehicle base pricing and the cost of certain options, upgrades and accessories have increased. All packages of the R1S will now only be offered in a 7-seat configuration.
We’re in the process of updating your Rivian Account page to reflect these adjustments and we will send you an email notification when the update is complete. Until then, all product and pricing updates can be viewed in our configurator.
These price increases — the result of inflationary pressure on the cost of supplier components and raw materials across the world — will allow us to maintain product excellence as we continue investing in electrification for our shared future. We remain committed to offering compelling products and helping drive competition, inspiring as many drivers as possible to switch to electric vehicles.
To that end, today we’re also announcing the introduction of Rivian Dual-Motor AWD for both R1T and R1S. Dual-Motor AWD features one motor for each axle for exceptional power and control. The system is designed to excel both off-road and on-road, going from 0-60 mph in as few as 4.0 seconds while still delivering all-wheel traction. Deliveries are planned to begin in 2024. We are also introducing our 260+ mile range Standard battery pack, with deliveries planned to begin in 2024.* Dual-Motor AWD and Standard battery pack are available now in our configurator, where you can find more information on each.
We’re grateful to you for being an early supporter of Rivian and helping drive the EV movement towards an enduring and livable world. If you have any questions about your preorder, we’re here to answer them.
Thank you again for being on this journey with us.

I'm guessing your timing will change little. The reason for the price increase is that they can't ramp production for whatever reason. So they must make more per vehicle.I’m assuming my fist half ‘23 will now be into ‘22. Thank you to those leaving.![]()
When they can only make 5 vehicles per day that is just a silly notion...I'm guessing your timing will change little. The reason for the price increase is that they can't ramp production for whatever reason. So they must make more per vehicle.
Well, there is that! When they can only make 5 vehicles per day that is just a silly notion...
Time to make some popcorn!RIVN just broke below it’s all time low.
This. I think a huge part of this decision lays in them realizing they can't come close to the production numbers they've claimed. By raising prices so drastically they artificially dump pre-orders while making more per car. When they can only make 5 vehicles per day that is just a silly notion...
What did you decide? I'm keeping for now and see what transpires over the next few monthsHoly crap, a $16,125 price increase for my configuration? It also seems that being a multi-year reservation holder doesn't protect pricing, either.
This may be the final nail in the coffin, for me. I'm seriously considering canceling my reservation. Between abysmal communication, endless missed deadlines and broken promises, no CarPlay, lack of basic/expected features, and a dramatic price increase... I'll sleep on the final decision, but I think "I'm out".
Don't know why everyone believes there is a price cap for the EV credit as there is not one; as has been pointed out repeatedly.Rivian Team are you telling ME after holding MY money for 2 years and promising ME a vehicle for $79,000 and delaying delivery by another year and while Rivian sits on $85B, you want ME PAY AN ADDITIONAL $17,000+ $7,500 lost tax credit = $24,500 INCREASE!....
I disagree with you there. As long as they were delivering trucks at a regular interval, in which people could closely guess when their ticket was up, they would have remained in line and understood the slow ramp. That is how it has been since employees first started taking delivery.This. I think a huge part of this decision lays in them realizing they can't come close to the production numbers they've claimed. By raising prices so drastically they artificially dump pre-orders while making more per car.
The damage to the brand, however, was clearly underestimated.
Correct, that was in the proposed bill. I also wonder if that bill was passed would Rivian had kept the prices as is.....Don't know why everyone believes there is a price cap for the EV credit as there is not one; as has been pointed out repeatedly.
