I'm not really into black vehicles but a Midnight black R1T with the Forest Edge interior would look sharp.

@Guy thanks for the info. The GT is over 4k more than the LR Y, without the tax credit did not make sense. Could not reserve the lower versions, Ford has closed reservations.
The GT is also faster, better built and more configurable.

This is probably a pretty accurate assessment, but it's worth being fair to Rivian here - the entire global supply chain, pre-2020, was built on the JIT approach. Sitting on piles of inventory is bad for all kinds of reasons (limits your design agility, stockpiles risk locally, potentially massive inventory costs, limited ability to cure if you discover parts are defective after warehousing them for four years, to name a few).

Companies run quarter to quarter and every incentive has historically pushed them to operate as close to the razor's edge with their supply chain as possible. Modern capitalism simply hasn't had the macro incentives in place to contemplate or prepare for massive shocks to the supply chain. Until suddenly it did for everyone all at once in 2020, and shit hit the fan.

So yes, Rivian probably could have hugely mitigated this in 2018-2020 by ordering certain parts in advance - but doing so would have been more or less crazy by the pre-COVID consensus view.
I guess I naively assumed Rivian would have prioritized production ramp-up over production efficiency given how much cash they had and all there rhetoric about mass production. Again, easy for me to say in hindsight.

Not exactly sure. But there's still 3 weeks left in Q1 and the line was shutdown 10 days in January. So there's still hope there will be a ramp increase in Q1 vs. Q4.
There was a ramp. By end of March there will be around 1850-2000 vehicles vs 1015 for Q4. That is an approximate doubling.

Right, and if they double each quarter it would put them at 27-30k, not far from their estimate, and not unreasonable.

I'm not feeling a "ramp"
I am seeing factories getting a shovel turn, but supply chain managing, manufacturing, and production seemingly taking a lot longer to manifest into anything notable vehicle-wise.

If I'm an owner, I am out on the production floor kicking some _ _ _ making this show hit the road.

And it is only going to get worse with half the world's neon supply needed to make semiconductors offline now due to the Russian-Ukraine mess...

Yesh, thats something to think about. Just feel the space inside the Y is better. The GT is a 9 month wait.

I work in Logistics and Supply Chain, the delay is inevitable given the supply chain issues around the world, I understand what Rivian is facing. I am late reservation, not expecting to get my R1S until early/mid 24'. I made a reservation for a Model Y and a Mustang Mach e GT, gonna pull the trigger on which ever comes early. Think MY in August, trade it in when my R1S comes in. How do you like the Polestar 2? did not think of this, am not a big Sedan guy.
I take this back. I picked up the car today and I really like it.

Need something for 2 yrs before my rivian comes in, 9 months is pretty long in that sense .. :)
I just signed up for Cares by Volvo (subscription service), getting their XC90. You can cancel after 5 months, and keep for as long as 24 months. 1,250 miles a month. I will bounce in and out of this subscription until my R1S comes :)

Porsche has stopped ALL production due to wiring harnesses being produced in Ukraine becoming suddenly unavailable.
