Good example, I don’t think my wife will have any issues with driving the R1T.

It is as wide as a full size truck but substantially shorter. Turning radius seemed very tight(no engine up front to get in the way of wheel angles, after all).

it did not feel as wide or as heavy as it is. I was immedistely pretty comfortable. Great seats too. My minder on the test course told me he’d been doing 10hr days with mobile test drives in NY before that first mile event, and the seats had been fantastic.

did notice all the static display trucks at first mile were in park/kneel height. My wife is 5’2” on a tall day and had no issue getting in. The R1T we drove was in standard mode and that was a bit of a step up. Our minder put it in the lowest(not as low as kneel mode, which doesn’t seem to be available on trucks right now) setting after and that was fine.


speaking of turning radius, @godfodder0901 can a u-turn be accomplished in one movement on a regular residential street, or is it a multi-point turn?

As a Tesla owner who went too many times back to the SC after delivery (for a creak here, a rattle there, etc) how's the overall fit and finish? Any rattles? Or something else not working requiring a visit back to the service center?

Question might have been missed (or else I missed the answer) so I'll ask again: how are the Rivian maps/nav? Have you used it to get to the grocery store? So much obsession around here for carplay; kinda wondering whether or not v1 is any good. (Could not test at First Drive event.)

If we're comparing it to auto OEMs, it's amazing. If we're comparing it to what you can get from Google, Apple, or Waze, it's passable.

Many of my questions have been asked and answered, so thanks again for your generosity in letting us live vicariously though you. One thing I'm curious about -- how well do the rain sensing wipers work? It's a pretty uneven experience in my GC.

Works great! Had plenty of rain today at varying rates and I didn't have to adjust anything. Only time I hit the 'forced swipe' was when we were parked and about to take off.

Does it only have native Spotify for music? Or does it have native Pandora or YouTube Music (if you're a subscriber)

We've been using bluetooth audio from our phones. It's fine. You can browse the current playlist, but no way to change lists / apps without touching your phone.

I just heard something from a test drive that surprised me. The person test driving didn't think there were any seat memory settings... Can you confirm if there are any seat memory settings for the drivers seat? I figured it was probably just tied to the phone or something like that. Hopefully you can confirm. Hopefully you can confirm it will remember settings for at least 2 drivers.

Driver seat position is saved to driver profile. Easy to switch between them. Not limited to 2 drivers (screen control, keys are paired to profiles so if you're alone, auto detect is available). Would be nice if the passenger seat position was also saved to the profile.

If you alter a setting in your drive mode setup, do those settings stick and come back between trips? Or does it go back to default?

And does your preferred drive mode (default or custom) stick to your driver profile in the car even after someone else with a different profiles drives it after?

I think we can do some more testing to figure this out. My impression is the seat, mirror, steering wheel, and climate are pinned to your profile. Other settings seem to apply to the vehicle rather than the specific driver (though most persist across trips). We'll try to pay more attention to this specifically to figure out which is which.

They seem to work fine. Windshield acts like rain-x (we didn't apply any), so I wonder if the glass is hydrophobic or if there was a treatment applied or...

After spending more time at highway speeds today, I think we have a weather stripping or similar issue in an area on the front passenger door. Otherwise, no squeaks or rattles.

The rear bench is pretty wide and definitely fits 3 adults. Probably not the best idea for a long trip, but workable. Can't speak to the car seat sizing.

Yes. Polestar seems stuck in the old way of doing auto. But trying to be direct to consumer like Tesla but not really.

Did you have any issues registering your R1T in your state due to weight?

I wonder if this applies to R1S as well or it is just a truck thing.
