Thanks for doing this!

1. When you are plugged in. Do you need to unlock the charge port with app to remove the cable? Or does it unlock with the truck being unlocked? (Thinking if how tesla needs to unlock charger via app if using adapter or button on tesla charger)

2. Can you schedule the cabin preheat? Or is it just a remote activate with app (but manual)?

3. Are there any commands you can give an echo in your house to control the Rivian? (Start cabin heat, how much range, etc) like a Rivian skill?

I really hope someone can make a teslafi equivalent for Rivian!

I’m not sure if anyone has asked this yet but how well does the phone as key work?

I have a polestar 2 and that pak is useless with how flakey it is.

We have so far left the key fob at home. Our phones work ok as keys (we have the card keys in our wallets just in case). Vehicle locks automatically if it detects the key (phone) has gone far enough away. I have not been manually locking it. There is a chirp that confirms lock and a different sound effect that seems to convey "I won't lock because something is still open."

It is a little annoying that it seems like I have to turn my phone screen on to get it to first unlock the vehicle (don't have to unlock the phone, can just tap the wake button while it's still in my pocket).
We are on different software builds, but my phone as a key works flawlessly... I think it was one of the things that was improved. (Godfodder's comment)

@DaveA, What phone are you using? @godfodder0901 is using a droid. Just curious if the behavior may be different droid vs Apple.

Sorry, I copied and pasted Godfodder's comment...came across like mine. I will be using Apple though.

Is the button for the chargeport touch sensitive or tactile? I've seen different reports on that. If it is just touch, have any of you tried it with regular gloves?

1. Just push the button on the charge handle and remove.

2. No. Manual only.

3. Not that I see.

Touch sensitive, does not work without touch capable gloves or bare hand.

Now I’m curious. What is your use case for wanting that option?
With the goose neck hinge it could be useful to get people to back off if following too close.

Like a smack on the head.

As a fellow P*2 owner I Totally agree here.
I am a little surprised based on answers here and other posts that Rivian doesn’t have more functionality and feature parity to Tesla app. They have had plenty of time.

I’m sure the app is not a priority especially since the vehicle is just getting some of these things. The app is sure to follow in due time.

Hopefully they expand on it over time. Unlike polestar who seems to just be stuck in “stability improvements “ mode right now.

How many watts is your radio drawing that you think the plug isn't enough? I haven't found the fuse panel yet, but I'm expecting 10-15A on that as a minimum... Then again, that's based on what I thought was appropriate building my sprinter ?
13A is what it's rated, but I'd prefer a direct connection to the batteries (fused, of course) with PowerPole connectors. That's what I did in my 4Runner and allows me to plug in other radio-related accessories too. I also have a CB installed right now, but those are only 4W. I still have notions of doing HF radio things while off-road and depending on the radio I use could be up to 100W. But more typically I'd probably just use my Xeigu G90 attached to some batteries. Another possibility for the HF rig would just be to bring a 12V power supply and use the 120V plugs.

So I guess the real question is whether or not there are easily accessible grommets through the "firewall" into the frunk to access the 12v battery.

Oof. Hope they add the ability to schedule a departure time for preconditioning and/or charging scheduling soon. I use that all the time in my MINI and is so nice to go out to a warm cabin for the regular commute without having to remember to hit the button.

Ahh. I guess I'm thinking like a tesla owner where there is no button and the car locks the cable in (even when car is unlocked).

That will be nice. We use a chargepoint + adaptor for our 3 and we have to use the app to unlock the charger each time we unplug. Which seems minor. But it's annoying (especially when the tesla app is terrible at connecting.to the car and/or waking it up.

Speaking of...have you noticed any delay in opening the app after the truck has been "asleep" for awhile and getting to a point you can see data or issue commands?
