@opnwide snapped this one. This is the point where I realized I should have actually prepared some questions, which I didn't. I didn't know Brian was going to be there but he was super cool and did answer the few questions I had.

You covered it up well with your emphatic hand gesturing.

Oh wow! An event in Denver - was this some special invite?? I am beyond livid right now - I've been on the waiting list over 3 years - live less than 30 mins away, and didn't know about this.

And I have yet to see a vehicle in person. I"m really NOT okay w/ their lack of communication...esp to CO pre-orders.....wtf!

That looks like a fun event. I probably won’t get an invitation any time soon but I still have not seen any similar events taken place in Chicago. I mean we’re in the same state as Rivian.

Are you an R1S or R1T preorder? It's possible it was R1T only and it sounds like it was a very small number, around 100. I only found out they weren't limiting it to the invites by a local FB group member saying it was okay to drop by, but even then only heard about 2 hours before the event ended.

I just chatted w/ someone at Rivian and what they told me frustrated me even more. The fact that I hadn't signed up on their 'https://rivian.com/connect/tell-us-more' to be added to the list, I didn't get an invite. My reply was, being on the waitlist for 3 years doesn't show you that I'm interested in attending these events. Oh well. I guess I'm just hoping for better customer service and outreach - but perhaps my expectations are too high. ;-(

If you have a R1S on order, they are not sending invites out for those.. Thats what the GM told me.

For me, at this point I just want the 'pinch' that they are a real company and would have been really excited to meet some of the owners, rivian service folks, etc. I had driven by the service center several weeks back to see if there was any trucks on the lot....sadly there were not.

I'm thinking April-May delivery for the R1S is most certainly not going to happen.

I don't blame you for being frustrated. I was not at the event either, but those who were reported the Rivian folks promised more events soon. My guess is that most of those invited were R1T order holders. Other R1S order holders who have checked in with Rivian about their status have been told their vehicles are still on schedule... who knows if that is true, but that is what they are saying.

My suggestion is to bother CS every day asking for a test drive until you get someone who will help you make it happen. Others had some success doing that in the last few weeks. If you just want to see one in person no time is better than now. They have a bunch over there.

Thanks for the perspective COdogman. Here I am, complaining because I didn't get to see a truck...so many more things going on to be concerned about - like those suffering in Ukraine over a needless war. I think I'm going to shut up now and just continue to wait and be patient. ;-)....today's a great day in CO!

I said something similar about the Saturday event on a Reddit thread: I, too, only got an invite on Thursday as a long time preorder. All the staff were very nice, very patient with everyone. But I got the impression that they were a little overwhelmed trying to get the facility together, the vehicles received, probably a mountain of paperwork to complete, etc. I think, for another few months, at least, that logistics are going to be the monkey on their back. When I asked if one of the many LE's sitting out there might be mine (scheduled for April-May delivery, but have had no Guide contact yet) one of the staff smiled and just said "maybe!"

Remember the "good ol' days" when Launch Green paint was a great mystery and we speculated on it endlessly? I've seen so many LG trucks that the exclusivity of it seems comical right now. I realize over the years that LG rarity will rise. But seeing a long line of LG's makes me reconsider it and go with Forest Green - a color that I've loved from day one.

It is almost always a great day in CO! :turkey:

Rivian deserves all the criticism they get for lack of communication. Then they tried the 3/2 stunt. They could have handled all of this much better than they have so far, even though I am sympathetic to their attempts to launch a new car company during a pandemic with all of the issues that come along with that. I read that for several weeks in Dec-Feb they had 800 workers out with COVID every day. Hard to make much progress when that is happening.

It does seem like they are coming out of it now and starting to deliver to customers, which is ultimately what they should focus on to make people happy. And they seem to be randomly contacting people in the Denver area for test drives, although there appears to be no real logic to who gets invited. I doubt they will drive as far as Louisville, but I know they let at least one person meet at the service center for a scheduled drive. Bug them and get yourself a drive as a reminder of what you've been waiting this long for!

I don't recall exactly who, but one of the higher up folks at the service center said they have something like 18-20 zones around the center based on distance that they are working through for test drives. They're obviously starting close in and working their way out. Because Denver isn't a hub like Venice it sounds like there's no plan to have a display setup either, which is unfortunate. It would be nice to see color swatches and such. Anyway, it sounds like they'll be expanding test drives soon and I also heard more events will be happening in the future.
