Interesting. Color me skeptical, if only because “we knew your configuration when we set your window months ago” does not account for current supply chain conditions. Also, I wouldn’t expect these guys to know much about what’s going on behind the scenes with production if they’re just receiving vehicles.

But I’m hopeful it’s true!
Who knows if that's true, but based on the delivery window poll the forum did, those with OC and FE generally had delivery windows a bit behind those with BM (FE much more so than OC).

I pity the CS agents.

I assume that Rivian has an internal wiki, knowledge base, or FAQ used by their CS and Guides. If that’s true then I think the best thing they could do is clean up the content and make it available for customers to search, too. I think that’s the best way for everyone to get consistent information when we have technical or detailed questions.
I've been speaking with a guide over the last few days. In fact, we just finished the 8 steps to purchase and now have insurance and all paperwork completed.

From my conversations I get the impression Rivian has basic protocols in place that they are constantly updating as they run into unexpected issues. For example, I was registering the truck under my company name and when I got to a certain part of the online buying, I was prompted to upload a business incorporation type letter or license. After I brought it to the attention of the guide, they took care of it and I was allowed to continue on with the process.

The guide implied that employee deliveries were in fact part of testing for service and QC. But now that they have gone live they are learning where their systems (software and online services)will need to be updated as they go.
The guide seemed sincere and from my experience I tend to believe the story I was being told.

mine kr the ladies there had “said” they just got back from Normal Plant “helping out” lots of R1S coming off the line apparently
Did they happen to say whether any of those had interiors other than black mountain? Whether they are producing decent quantity of vehicles is no longer in question. The question is are (or when will) they producing anything other than black mountain interiors. And where the hell is Limestone! ?

Guides seem to have better / more detailed info than CS does. Wish I had one! I’d put the guys at the service center more in the category of CS relative to what info they have. That’s just a gut feel after talking to them, so hopefully what they told me is accurate.

The guide seemed sincere and from my experience because I’m gullible I tend to believe the story I was being told.
FIFY ?. Just kidding

I joked about limestone actually, they were talking about how awesome El Cap was in person and my wife said “what about Likestone” then myself and the workers all laughed and joked that it didn’t exist, it’s a unicorn.
They did not mention other interiors

The golden question right now is whether or not OC and/or FE are actually delayed. Or if they just started producing the black first and will switch to a different color with the next batch of production. Our guide, as well as the head of the service center I spoke to, believes the former, not the later. But they also don't know for sure. Which is odd. You would think the guides would be informed if anything that the folks they represent is going to be delayed. Especially in cases like ours, where we got a guide a year ago last May. And were expecting a summer delivery, then a fall delivery, then got told April. And also have watched the ipo shares get cut in half. All we really have gotten at this point is a few water bottles and a test drive. I am very bullish on this company for the long term. And patient. And understanding that mass production of complex machines is difficult work. But we also have stuck with them since the first of 2019 and really feel like our guides should be providing us with a little more detail about what to expect. Especially now that folks who live in the same area and put down their deposits many many months later are starting to get their trucks. So yeah, getting a straight answer about whether or not OC/FE are delayed by supplies or if they are truly going to be building them in the next batches shouldn't be an impossible question to get answered.

The golden answer is, yes.

Now, do I win a golden shower? ?
It all depends on your definition of delayed. For mar/apr windows, they could still deliver before the window ends.

I’m doing my best to remain patient - but if we don’t start seeing some OC/FE guide contacts in 2-3 weeks I’ll probably switch to a more common config.

I’ve had a Guide since 6/2021 and have been in regular contact since day 1. I’ve reached out numerous times over the last few delays and always get the “everything’s on track”, until it’s not. I’ve reached out twice in the last week regarding possible delays with my OC delivery and possibly switching to BM- no response. Needless to say I’m getting a little irritated.

I am/was an FE holder. I was offered to switch because of the delays, so I took it.

It's like y'all don't listen to me! I've been saying to switch to BM to accelerate delivery. Best case, you get BM and it's earlier. Worst case, they contact you during your original estimate and say "it looks like you changed. Do you want your original and wait a few months?"

Oh, I listen to you and I do think switching to a common color with BM could potentially get me my truck pretty quickly. It’s pretty clear Rivian was building cars and not delivering them since Jan. Now they are just matching people to those built cars.

Having said all that… I‘m still willing to wait a bit longer. I really want the truck before June is over for a summer road trip I have planned. Any sooner would be nice since we’re getting by on one car, but I can manage. Since I really want CY it doesn’t matter anyways… I haven’t seen anyone take delivery on that regardless of interior.

So, given my own timeline - I need to see some OC deliveries within the next month. If not… I’ll probably try switching to something that I like with BM, most likely LAS or GW.

Kind of in a similar boat. My delivery window is July - Sept, so even if OC interiors are delayed by "months" they should be on trucks and SUVs by the time July rolls around. I might wait a bit before making a call on changing to BM. BM would go well with LG but it might be a bit too dark in combination with FG.

BM would look great with CY though, so you won't have to worry too much about that!
