In case this isn't already old news, I spoke with Rivian support today who confirmed that R1S's are on the production line and are being delivered.

I'm slated to get mine in the first half of 2023.

Rivian R1T R1S R1S's are being delivered (according to Rivian customer support) 1647886591992

Died of old age during the wait
I'm being crushed under the boulder of salt with which I'm receiving this information.

They were insisting deliveries were ongoing for the R1T for months when they were, for practical purposes, exclusive to employees. So this is good to hear but I will wait for forum-confirmed customer deliveries before getting too optimistic.

I'll say I'm skeptical. I live very close to an open service center. There are 3 R1T's delivered within just a few blocks of my house. I have a very early Day One pre-order and a March->April delivery window. I don't even have a guide contact yet.

Somebody would have posted a bunch of information about the 2nd and 3rd rows and how they actually work by now if a regular person had one of these things...

I’ll take the under. As in none beyond the 2 employee rigs.

Would be thrilled to be wrong.
Think we saw some loaded up for air transport likely to intl investors… but yeah agree with your point!

When I talked to CS last week, I asked him if he could see any R1S being built, and he replied with no and that they are trying to get the trucks out. I have a feeling they are trying to get all the LE R1Ts completed before starting on LE R1S. I believe there are a few LE R1T members with April-May deliveries being contacted by a guide for deliveries in a few weeks, so that would make sense.

There are LE R1T deliveries scheduled all the way into July-August. They will be mixing builds of R1S and R1T, I'm fairly certain of that. They may already be doing so based on what some people have been told.

There's no doubt they are building R1Ses as they've been seen in the parking lots outside the factory, but they are greatly outnumbered by R1Ts and I haven't seen any waiting at a service center yet. As was the case with the R1T a month ago, there's no evidence of real customer deliveries, but that can change quickly.

Here's some pure speculation. They are currently delivering as many of the R1Ts that were built (and sitting in the north parking lot from drone footage) as humanly possible ahead of Q1. At the same time, they are pushing out only BM R1Ts on the line to maximize the Q1 end number that will be publically reported and highly scrutinized. That probably means they aren't switching to Ocean coast interior or R1S before March 31.

On April 3rd or 4th, they'll switch to R1S so they can push some of those (maybe a couple hundred at best) for a few weeks to get people excited (delivery end of April earliest). After that, they move to Ocean coast R1T for delivery in May/June.

At that point, they'll be experts in scaled manufacturing. We should expect they can then seamlessly transition between models and all color interiors and exteriors. As a result, they'll produce all LE by Sept if not sooner. Max packs and open roofs come shortly thereafter.

Everyone will be happy. All bad deeds will be forgotten.

(You got this Rivian!)
